It’s getting close:
As our community project edges its way to completion, with just one more weekend left for filming to take place, the shots continue to roll in with a few still outstanding to complete. The real drive is to get the film complete before Avatar comes out at the cinemas again. I mean we’re all going to be wanting to go and see Avatar again rather than filming – including me! The ‘making of’: I thought it important to capture a bit of the background to this film project as it has been quite an achievement for everyone involved. So to this end I have started work on doing a ‘making of’ video with contributions from a number of the film crew. There will also be an few bloopers included too. Hopefully this will be a nice record of how we put it together, why it was important to us and what we hope the outcome will be. An International Community Production: One aspect with making this film together is that the film crew come from all over the world and not every country have English as their first language. So members from those countries have very kindly provided a translation of the script in their own native tongue. The result is that our film will be able to have subtitles for Germany, Czech Republic, Finland and Brazil. A Major Development: As our film project has been progressing one of our number, Unil Makto, has been working on an interactive feature to go with it. This is in the form of a fun environmental quizz that aims to highlight the effects us humans are having on our only home. As part of the testing for it, he passed it around his office for his colleagues to try out. Whilst this was going on, his boss found out and wanted to know more. So Unil Makto showed him some clips from our film. Now this is where it got a little bit exciting. Unil Makto works in an area that looks after iTunes and his boss has suggested that our film gets put on to iTunes for everyone to see! In addition to that, he has started work on an App for the iPhone that can include our film and his interactive feature. The App, which will be free, can then be downloaded by anyone with an iPhone or iPod touch and a valid iTunes account. So what once started out as a forum project that would be put on You Tube (which we will do as well), now has the potential to reach the many people who use iTunes.
