Default I am so desparately sad...

I am so depressed. Everything we had... a kind, loving and, most importantly, united community lies in tatters at the wayside. I miss the way things used to be, when there was no feeling of dischord and everything was good.

I have decided to join this place as well, but somehow I feel like a double-agent, I feel as if also being part of AF is seen as wrong here and I fear that I will be persecuted as such.

Is there any way at all that we could ever return to the way things were or are we destined to live with this gaping chasm between people that breaks my heart so much to see.

I agree with what is going on here, the creation of a community where the leaders are as much a part of it as the "common man" and indeed, harsh insults were thown about during the 'incident'. But all I want is to see a single people, once again, united under something we all have a passion for.

There's no problem with belonging to and being active in both places. And I agree, I find it very sad that it came to this, but I think it had been coming for a while. Things just weren't as positive as they used to be on AF, even well before the forum change that was the last straw for some people.

I certainly hope we can recreate that old atmosphere again.

Brother, I am here, I will always be.
All we have to remember, our Heart is our voice, ringing loud and true.

Love is key, nothing else. And this place will stay beautiful, I will make sure of that, or go down trying.

Don't look to what was lost in the past- look at what we have now, and what the future holds for this new, great community!

There are a lot of great posts made by some of the members here in the AF forum, which I will still return to read now and then. However, while some people may no longer be active on that forum, you will always find friends here no matter what!

Do you just miss your post count?
I joke, I joke
It is sad that a warm, caring community was destroyed but from the ashes came this place, which holds great potential

I suspected something like what happened tonight would eventually happen. I really hoped it wouldn't, I'm sure many people will agree I was very strongly connected to, and emotionally invested in, Avatar-Forums. If there was any way to put everything back to how it was a couple of months ago, I would.
That's not going to happen though, and we need to be able to adapt. What we had may have been rare, but there is absolutely no reason it can't happen here.

Really, I intend to still be around AF too... There are so many memories there, mostly good. Really, the people there helped me so much, I don't even want to think about what state I'd be in now if I had never found AF
We just have to take all our good memories, all the positive feelings, and remember them, and make plenty of new ones. Make this forum a home for all to be proud of.

Right now, I'm a real mess, a huge mix of emotions, but I'm so happy at what we have achieved already, and this forum is only 23 hours old! . Already, we have so many great people, some real discussion has started, and it's great to see so many familiar faces (ok... names ) around.

Don't worry about still going to AF, I have said this from the beginning, but if it is at all possible, I would love to be able to coexist with them, I do still intend to read and post there, if perhaps not as often as I used to

Remember... This is our forum, make it somewhere we can feel at home!

Agreed, let's make sure this place stays the way it should, compassionate and united. We are the embodiment of everything AVATAR stands for, let's not forget that.

Well I wasn't gonna bring it up, but it takes me forever to reach high post counts on forums...

As for "living in two worlds", I'm still not sure exactly where I'll end up. All the people I know (early users from AF, IRC/skype regulars, etc.) will probably be here so I imagine I'll be on here more often, but still... despite what AF has devolved into there really is a lot of history there...

Here's a video that's sort of related. For non-WoW users it might seem a little weird and confusing, but the song is just beautiful. In the end, all we have are memories... we can't go back.

The thing is it's going to be hard to establish myself here like I did on AF. All my posts and the big discussions I contributed to are all there. The group discussions I joined and created are all there. My friend list, albums, contest entries, gold membership... everything. But this forum... this one here, I immediately noticed the quote in the header: "The People say, Eywa will provide. With no home, no hope, there was only one place they could go."

It's like a subtle hint in how many of us felt alienated when AF changed its style and format, and how many of us are starting to wonder if it'll ever change back. Chances are it won't, and there's "only one place" we can go: to this forum. Loved it. Absolutely brilliant. Whoever thought of putting that in the header has my utmost respect and gratitude. I'll make the best of what I have here, and hopefully soon enough I'll become a full-time member here and ditch AF (unless, by some miracle, the old format returns).

Ma Tsmukan, You are not alone,
Many of us, including myself grew to have a deep attatchment to the community of AF, but don't worry about it. What we had will come about again The point of this site is for those of us who were friends to find each other again. And I hope we all do. Despite this, welcome to this new forum

Its really sad that it came to this, after reading those IRC logs, I was just shocked at how much hate they could spew. I'm glad were keeping it alive though!

Personally, I feel that the founders of our new forum tried their best to adapt to the slowly deteriorating atmosphere in AF- one of which neglected the community's wishes and considerations.

The template change, to me, was the last straw that broke the camel's back, and contrary to what many people believe, it was not the sole reason that resulted in the break off to form this forum. We've tried our best to uphold civility and not add fuel to the flame fest, but as seen in another thread (the quotes from the 3 moderators), they themselves have incited it. While I'm not portraying ourselves are pure from any harsh comments, I feel that that incident just escalated the now chaotic situation over at AF.

Anyways, since the main bulk of the livewires of the community are here, with the admins and mods being familiar faces, I appeal to you to make ToS reminiscent of the good days in AF.

Ma tsmukan, it's the same thing for me. I was on AF since a month and I keep really good memories of the discussions I had there. Unfortunately then all this mess happened, and suddenly I... we... became strangers in a stranger place. I'm just glad we have ToS now. And yes, I really love our header banner as you do. These two lines reflects perfectly how I felt after being banned from AF.

@ProfoundHeart: I agree with you, brother. Let's fly together, united as one!

Boy, I sure know what you guys meant about the alienation bit, especially when all those ads and the new format showed up on AF. However, I never went on the IRC rooms (I've pretty much abandoned live chat- I'm almost always working on school or my business at my computer, so on the forum I can post and not worry about replying for a bit ).

Maybe I'll give it a go if we have an IRC channel for this forum? I'll take a look and see if there's one posted.

Anyway, the point of this post was to say that even without the experience that many have had with the disagreements (I assume) over IRC, AF still lost that feeling of home and community.

I'm so very glad I was invited to come here, otherwise I would still browse over there a few times a day and hunt for 'deeper,' meaningful threads with substance.
