Awsome new footage! Unfortunatley I won't get to see it because i'm leaving for college in 5 days where there is no IMAX close by But that's okay, i'll see it all on the speical editon in Nov. Does anyone know how much overall bonus footage there will be on the special edition? Hopefully lots more than the 8 mins in the re-release.

There is 9 min of footage in the re-release version of Avatar. I do not know how much if any more extra footage will be in the next DVD version. You can assume at least 9 min

Well I have this feeling/memory of that the extra footage will be ~20 mins long, to complete the 3 hours just barely.

Although... I also have the number 40 in the back of my head when it comes with me pondering about the extra footage... I am not sure of which one of the I belive most on... but I sure as hell would prefer the 40 minutes option

But if you now do want a more precise and reliabe statement... I dunno... call J.C, send him a message... USE GOOGLE!!! xD

Pretty sure JC said the next DVD/BluRay would have 39 to 40 extra minutes, but not all of it would be finished (CG scenes) etc.
