not as gorgeous as Neytiri? I noticed this a lot during my last viewings, I liked to see what other stuff I'm missing throughout the movie, and whenever there was a crowd of Na'vi people, I looked at all the other Na'vi and noticed there wasn't any other Na'vi woman as gorgeous as Neytiri... why do you think this is? Is it so we wouldn't take our attention off Neytiri? And why physically aren't they as beautiful?

It also can be that they were being realistic. Not everyone is very beautiful. Or I guess I should say that there are probably more plain looking people than very beautiful. The outside doesn't count as much as the inside.
Very sorry, accidentally deleted a part of your message. I pressed the stupid "Edit" button instead of the stupid "Quote" button. I'm tired. ![]() I apologize, Eltu

Well I personally think the others were beautiful, but maybe that's just me...
![]() I think because Neytiri's a main character and the one we (and Jake) are supposed to fall in love with, making her more beautiful than the other Na'vi females would only make sense.

I thought that all the Na'vi were beautiful... very beautiful inside and out, just not as beautiful as Neytiri... maybe its because I got to know Neytiri so well, her personality and such, whereas the other Na'vi I didn't. I cried when Jake was narating what Neytiri told him, "She says that all energy is only borrowed, and one day you have to give it back" and it has the Na'vi all around singing, and Neytiri gently lets a flower float down on a Na'vi elder in the ground, I cried when I saw that. Just the effect that Neytiri's words (that Jake told us) on my heart, and seeing all the Na'vi around the elder, and seeing a beautiful Na'vi dead just... had such an effect on my heart and soul. I may just not be listening to all that is in my mind, I find all the Na'vi beautiful

There will always be exceptional individuals. As it is, I certainly noticed some of the other Na'vi women, even if Neytiri is better.

As for "not as physically beautiful", I think the one walking right behind Neytiri when she brings Jake to hometree for the first time, has a nicer shape. (hubba hubba) I also think part of it is that Neytiri was made to look a little more human than most of the others, to facilitate our Mass Fantasy Bonding Experience
I mean, she even has eyebrow-lines, though none of the Na'vi actually have eyebrows.

well i noticed that as well - thats most of the 'stand ins' appears to be fugly compared to the main characters - goes for both male & female

I think JC wanted his viewers to concentrate on Neytiri, and not let any particular Na'vi steal any bit of limelight from her

Well it worked! But there's still that connection that I have for all of The People... That connection of love they have for each other and for the nature. They are so beautiful inside

I agree, one of my viewing I made it a purpose to view the Na'vi in the background and some were quite ugly to be frank. Possibly the human form of that person did not transfer to Na'vi very well Im not sure but most if not all did not measure up to Neytiri at all.

Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder!
I would say I noticed that as well, and agree with everyone. What I noticed though even though her face is painted at the time we see her, is that Sea Ikran Clan Leader, is quite striking. I suspect that if she is to play more of a role in the sequels, we will see a perfected beauty there as well, maybe even enough to give Neytiri some competion?

I think that they were intentionally meant to serve as background people, hence due to the lack of screentime on them, they weren't meant to stand out as much as Neytiri or Mo'at.
A shame really, how can we fully appreciate Na'vi culture without looking at all of the community? I think all the Na'vi are awe inspiring, both appearance and personality wise and as a social group. They are a communal bunch which brings our individualist society to shame.
