Default Pics of the Perseid meteor shower

If you never got to see this awe-inspiring sight a few days ago here are some photos of them from all over the world.

Meteor showers happen when the Earth passes through the tail of a comet's debris. Tiny particles measured in the micrometre hit the Earth's atmosphere at 165'000 mph and cause large streaks of light across the sky as it burns up.

All meteors in the Persied meteor shower radiated out in all directions from the constellation Perseus, as you can see in the first photo below, hence the naming. The shower is debris from the comet Swift-Tuffle.

Really?

Shooting Stars are so beautiful. Probably because they whizz across the sky without making a sound.

Perseid Meteor Shower ends Friday. The Perseids are ending its peak but expect up to 50 shooting stars PER HOUR until the 20th of August.

So lie out under the stars on your next free night and count the streaks of light of the best meteor shower this year!

Those are really beautiful photos. Once I had the opportunity to watch the Aquarides (I hope the name is correct ). There were not so many of them, but it was an amazing experience.
