One of the comments said "what if in his wanderings he reaches the end of his patch of wilderness and goes WTF?" That's what I was thinking. What would he do?
It's great that the Brazilian government is doing something, but is it enough? And am I the only one who's noticed that every time "civilized" people try to "domesticate" natives, they always die within a few years? Any speculation on what the holes in the huts are for? (I was thinking bodily functions, but isn't that a bit too much work for that use?) |

They "die" because younger generations assimilate into the dominant culture.

![]() Thought about that also. The only thing I can think of would be for protection from the logging crews if they tried to bulldoze his hut in the middle of the night. He could jump down inside it instead of getting run over. But chances are the noise would wake him up with plenty of time to escape so I don't really know.
