I know EXACTLY what you mean. Often, not even words or pictures of any kind can describe the beauty of the world through the eye of the beholder sufficiently. Some things have to be seen to be experienced.

I went to Saskatchewan once. But it was the boring plain parts where everything is just farms. Farms, everywhere.

Great photos, though. Never saw any water while I was there. I'm jealous. :B

LOL! Which is pretty much how much of Saskatchwan is ... even I get bored with it on long drives. When did you come to Saskatchewan and what area where you visiting? and where are you from?

And THX! There is also a lot of picturesque countryside and what we often call here the hidden secret spots of Saskatchewan .. albeit we do have LOTS of lakes.

Inspired by this topic, I went camping today...

Me camping on port valdez:

the sunrise looked really beautiful...

Me camping in a container.

Camping in the bushes.

Yet another container...

I set up a camp on a hill overlooking the laguna.

Seriously though, beautiful pictures! I really like the clouds in this one:

...and love the rainbow. I wish I could find the old paper photos I had somewhere and... um, photograph them I guess.

Default 2nd Vacation Trip to Cypress Hills

Went on a second Holiday to another part of Saskatchewan known as the Cypress Hills. I hadn't been there since I was a young girl. Its a series of Hills that rises high up in the middle of otherwise flat prairie.

It inspired this poem .. and eventually the answer!

Who looks through these eyes?

Standing on a bluff
Overlooking a panoramic vista,
Vast and spacious lands
A hundred kilometres
To the horizon.
Whom is the companion
Standing here with
Me all alone
Seeing what I see?
Am I seeing with my eyes?
Or through the Divine’s?
Is it the Great Spirit?
Is it the Ancestors?
Is there another?

What is this breathtaking?

Wind blowing
Whisking away at my essence
Beholding this exalted Threshold
Stirring an exhalation
That takes flight.
Whom is the Spirit
Communing here with
Me all alone?
Seeing what I see?
Am I breathing with my breath?
Or through the Divine’s?
Is it the Great Spirit?
Is it the Ancestors?
Is there another?

What is this enkindlement?

under burning haze
Blazing sun and blue skies
Spreading across the heavens
Humble in awe by majesty
Heating my soul.
Whom is the beloved
Flaming here with
Me all alone
Seeing what I see?
Am I feeling with my heart?
Or through the Divine’s?
Is it the Great Spirit?
Is it the Ancestors?
Is there another?

2010

Oh how I long to travel the world in the utmost poverty,
to cities, villages, mountains, deserts and oceans,
And cry out ‘Ya Bahá!’
This, alas, I cannot do,
God willing you may do this for me.

- “Abdu’l-Bahá”

I did catch a couple of beautiful rising full moon photo's, but no night sky ones. Cypress Hills is one of the few places in the world that is designated as what are called "Dark-sky Preserves", which mean one of the few places left on earth where you can see the night heavens without 'city light' interferences! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark-sky_preserve

Beautiful pics, Mika, I love 'em! And I did not know about dark-sky preserves, I should like to visit one someday and see what it's like.
