The entire film is full of awakening and dreaming symbolism, much like The Matrix. Reality as he knows it is now the dream because he has found the truth.

If I go any further I'm going to start repeating what I posted already in my Jake thread.
Definitely its about the 'Hero's Journey', and although I probably missed a lot of your comments (which btw, could you post the link?), I guess I was thinking that as that concept has been well discussed, I was looking to come at it from a different direction, not necessarily focusing on the typical elements of the hero's journey!

Since posting this thread, though, I have switched over and started to elaborate my original thoughts (that were just emerging, when I posted this originaly) to a new thread where I want to examine the Deeper Philosophical Meanings in Avatar http://www.tree-of-souls.com/general...gs_avatar.html beyond the hero's journey concept! What sparked that was in fact the realization that Avatar had a lot in common with the Matrix, and those philosophical questions raised in the Matrix, are my jumping board, for looking deeper into Avatar!

What this world really needs is more artists and environmentalists!

"Its only 'here' that we lose perspective, out at the Cosmic Consciousness Level things get a lot clearer. For example, there is an actual star pattern that is traced in the shape of a Willow Tree, across the breadth of the Milky Way! And no wonder Indigenous peoples refer to the 'here after' as the Happy Hunting Grounds! Has it ever occured to anyone why the bioluminescence dots, on the Na'vi!"
