Default James Cameron on final director's cut

Quote:
James Cameron has said that he will not revisit Avatar following the release of the definitive director's cut in November.

The Oscar-winning director released Avatar: Special Edition in cinemas last month, incorporating nine minutes of additional footage into the original cinematic version. A final director's cut is scheduled to be released on DVD in November, with another seven-minute extension.

Cameron told Total Film that November's release is the final working of the 3D epic that he will be involved in. He said: "No, I'm not going back to this.

"There's no revisiting this downstream, and I don't see it coming back into theatres at all unless 20 years from now they want to do something and I'm a doddering old guy that can't stop them."

A sequel to Avatar is currently slated for a 2014 release date.
So it seems that we will have Cinema SE ver extended by 7 min with finished footage, I kinda hoped for 16-17 mins more *sad* but well at least seven more........

Well I guess it's good, he can focus more on the sequel
I'm fine with 16 minute extension since I didn't see the SE (waiting for the BD)

Wait wait. By the "7-minute extension", does he mean there'll be 7 minutes added along with the 16-17 minutes of extra footage, or just 7 minutes period, without the other 16-17 minutes?

I think it's just 9 mins from the theatre release + 7 more on BD?

I think it could go either way.

I'm pretty sure that the special edition in November is 16-17 minutes longer than the original/first theatrical cut. The 16 minutes will include the extra 9 minutes from the recent re-release, and also includes the extra 7 minutes to be included on the Blu-ray.

So the 9 minutes from the release + the new 7 minutes specifically for November edition = 16 minutes.

And of the extra 7 minutes, 5 minutes or so will be the restored "Earth" scenes JC has said, excerpts of which can be seen in the original movie trailers.

Looking forward to the earth scenes (which I assume will include the bar fight scene)

I will never understand why that scene was cut out.

Yeah I always found that odd when I first saw the trailer. There's a tiny bit of the Earth scene in the trailer, yet for some reason never in the movie. We'll all find out the juicy details in the DVD.

Not enough time and more important things to add.

Really looking forward to it. Of course, I have other things to anticipate in that month too, so for me waiting won't be so bad.
