I recently went to Bestbuy in search of speakers and televisions, and while I was searching around, I stumbled upon one of their newest 3D model TVs. To my surprise, it actually looked 3D, just like you would see in the theater. The picture was RealD 3D technology, not the typical anaglyph 3D technology used years ago.
If you'd like to own a 55" 3D TV set, prepare to pay around $2,500.00 for JUST the TV. The accessories necessary in order to achieve a working 3D TV can cost you up to $400.00. See more about prices here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....&type=category What are your thoughts on 3D television? Have you ever seen a 3D TV set? Do you think 3D television will replace 2D sometime in the future? |

I think it will... Eventually. Not so many people will go for it in the near future though due to the cost. Of course, eventually it will be standard, like HD is now.

I think that 3D TV sets will be out-of-budget for most families for quite some time. When prices will decrease, then they will be more common - and in the meantime the technologies will get more sophisticated as well.
Personally I'm extremely happy with my current TV and I'm not planning to replace it anytime soon

Same for me. I will not be getting one anytime soon but will wait it out and see if it is just a fad or something that will stick around.

Yeah, the 3D TV sets are currently a little too much for the "average" family, but prices will drop in due time as technology advances, and some day everyone will have a 3D TV. I myself have settled on a rather decent 2D TV and I couldn't be happier.

I think 3-D will replace 2-D... think about it it's history repeating itself...
records -> tapes -> CDs -> MP3s Computers TVs With the records, tapes, CDs, MP3s, its basically the steps of technology increasing, step by step. With computers and TVs, lots of people were skepticle about them... here are two quotes about each... "There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in their home" I could see where they were coming from back then, the technology wasn't as facinating as it is now, and they were expensive and large, but now nearly every household in the US (and across the oceans) has one, and those who don't I don't know how they are getting by without one "Television won't be able to hold on to any market it captures after the first six months. People will soon get tired at staring at a plywood box every night" I think 3-D TVs are on the rise... and if I had the money I'd own one |

Exactly the same with me... This is also what everyone used to say about HD, which is now standard. In a few years, most people will have or be able to afford one.

One speaker (Mono) => 2 speakers (Stereo) => 5.1 => 7.1 => 9.1 => ... 2D "Mono" => 3D "Stereo" => 3D => ? By "Stereo 3D" I mean the old 1980s 3D, and by 3D, the new 3D technology used in Avatar where you can actually see the object from two angles. Though, I think 3D movies will not get stuck in the "Stereo" like audio, as you don't need more TVs to view all the angles

Yeah, I just cant decide if 3D will stick around or if it will keep going onto something past 3D, it just seems a bit strange for regular viewing for things to be popping out of the TV LOL! Of course I would assume this is how people feel with any new tech that comes out. Though if it does catch on I do hope that they are able to configure them somehow that allow you to get all the effects of 3D without wearing glasses. That would make the sales boom IMO.
