This is the "South Pillar of the Heaven" in the "Three Thousand Mountain Peaks" in China.
The Chinese government actually renamed this particular mountain to be called "Hallelujah Mountain" inspired by Avatar itself.

Ironic considering their censorship of Avatar itself because they didn't want people understanding it's message...

I mean, these photos inspire me, but they also piss me off to no end. Because I'm sure there is some rich prick out there who sees pictures like these and drools about how they could exploit it.
Actually if you look at some of these pictures, they are already "exploited" by tourism. That si kind of funny in a way as the beautiful beach has recliners on it and one of the pictureas actually has a golf course (noteably a hobby for the rich) in it.
Just saying, that not always exploitation has to be covering something with asphalt and shopping malls or mines - the ones in power also want parks and beaches to relax - its just that they do both - and that many people in the world have only access to the first part of it - the concrete jungle of office buildings and shopping malls - and not the expensive beachside hotels and tropical island paradises. At least not until they work hard to flush more money into the pockets of thos who already have. Thats the megamachine at work here...

I love that statement about the color changing trees BTW - its really WIN!

And I need to get a camera to post some pictures here, too

yep the beach with a cliff around it is Porto Katsiki, it's one of the most tourism exploited beaches in Greece. My colleague was there and said that on the picture it's unusually empty lol. Also the golf course is on Hawaii. I think nature doesn't have to be super wild for you to enjoy it.

Looking at all these pictures gives me a feeling that I get when I'm standing out in wilderness, especially when I'm on a very high point and have a huge view in front of me:

I just want to jump off - and fly right into the scene. The sights that I see are too beautiful to be absorbed from just one vantage point. I want to see every curvature of rock and mountain from every angle. I want to capture every bit of it in my memory. I want my body to explode into a million specks of dust and then have them by carried by the wind so that they all touch every corner that I wish to know and experience. But as I cannot fly or divide myself into multiple beings, I have to humbly take in a place very slowly with just two eyes. Nature is a humbling thing.

Sorry if that was weird or made no sense.
