The death penalty follows the old "eye for an eye" mentality of justice. I support the words of those who opposed such a mentality: Jesus Christ, Gandhi, et cetera. When we take a life from someone for taking a life, we are essentially guilty of the same crime, the only difference is that one taking of a life is sanctioned by the state.
