I started my fandom on AF and while I was aware of the split as it was happening I wasn't interested in joining ToS because I was happy where I was and had made tons of friends who also weren't leaving. I did check out this forum from time to time and thought it looked cool because it looked like the earlier days of AF but I just spent so much time on AF I had no reason to join yet another forum. I didn't have much of an opinion at the time on the split other than it felt like those who left didn't like those who stayed as much and I always hated that. However looking at it with 10 years having past I'm glad it happened. I'm glad because this place exists even long after AF has fallen, and gotten up, and fallen a few more times. Even in this thread I see a couple of long time AF friends. So thank you for all the time and money you've put into this place Eltu, and thanks for welcoming any of the Avatar fans who'd like to congregate here. I will always prefer a forum to express my fandom vs social media.

Sorry for being late but great post Eltu and thank you for keeping this forum alive.
I can't wait for the sequels and I just try to do my little part by keeping up with the news (scarce unfortunately) and posting them here. Glad to hear from you, Cheers! ![]() |

10 years...
This community helped me define myself for the long run. Survived high school without getting addictions and without ruining my life (which quite a big portion of my class did). Fell in love, got cheated on, had my heart broken for a few years, started doing some entrepreneurship, found an ambitious team on a Startup Weekend, earned quite some money while still in college. I invested a lot of time on learning new tech and programming languages. Met a new girl, she is gorgeous, a very kind heart. Had enough of commuting for hours every time I wanted to stay with her for a day so I bought my first car. Proposed to her. Went through some tough times - I've already lost some of my grandparents which was very difficult, now she was going through the same. Finished college, moved to Warsaw (huge capital compared to the small city I lived in). Startup business failed, had to find a job - decided to look for a dream job. For 3 months I was looking for an offer that included remote work for a US company. Found it, making tons of money, saving to buy a flat or build a house. Then COVID hit and we were unsure if our wedding will happen. Some of our family members accused us of risking their lives just to have a wedding... Fortunately the stats were promising and the govt lifted limitations. It was a great party! Now we're figuring out life once again as we're able to do anything that we would like. I remember writing a blog on my Avatar adventure. I remember deleting everything with a faulty SQL UPDATE query. Still hurts today, I wrote so much about my feelings and about the events that happened in this community. I would love to read it through right now... And I remember receiving a package from mikkowilson with some magazines which featured Avatar and some chocolates! Learning the Na'vi language was a huge fun, and I still have the notebooks! I'm so glad to see that my tutorials were continued. Makes me feel like I've really been a part of the community ❤ I've watched Avatar a few days ago, for the first time in 4k on a 52 inch TV. Amazing detail! Before that I think I watched the movie in 2012, then I sort of quit I guess... life got in the way and required my full attention. I kind of regret it. The girl wasn't worth it. Anyway. I hope the forums are kept alive! It's a great testament of great times. We were a super strong community, and the support that everyone had for each other was so touching! Hope everyone else is ok too!
