Avatar RP on Second Life
Well, I have a character created, met some of the other people involved and a 'game' was scheduled for this Friday but a last minute interruption on the part of the 'GM' has postponed it indefinitely.
Rats. But good also. I wasn't quite familiar with all the controls, my character wasn't completely intergrated with the rest of the people and so this is actually a good thing. The scenario we are working in takes place 'years' after the last shuttle left Pandora. Given travel time, it could be at least 18-20 years post battle. The Na'vi are very suspicious of the return of the humans (as they should be) and the base we're working from is technically based in the plains tribes. (No meeting with Jake or the Omaticaya) It is a very involved backstory involving a female commander that is certifiably insane/schizo and bent on revenge. My character is a scientist and also is working for the 'Resistance' on Earth. She was told after starting training that her avatar body failed. They lied to her and she knows why, her connections to the Resistance was found out. Some of her colleagues though somehow rescued her avatar and it shipped with her on the flight to Pandora. So she has minimal training but is extremely sympathetic and supportive of the Na'vi. Her attempts at contacting the local tribe has been shaky and she understands that gaining their trust of her will be a long difficult process. But they don't have a lot of time. The RDA is trying to start up mining operations again and are taking extreme measures to make sure the Na'vi stay suppressed. I have my conversation with the tribal leaders saved somewhere and will post it on a separate blog as a kind of journal for her. Lots of fun! OOC I got to fly an Ikran with one of the Na'vi... amazing stuff!

Sounds like a lot of fun! I still have a lot of trouble figuring out second life but this makes me want to try again. =]

I just got a notice today that the group has had a major disruption. The admin has left the group and took most of the 'buildings' for the RDA with her. Those that are left are attempting to rebuild best they can so at this time the game is indefinitely cancelled.
I will be posting images as soon as I have something of interest. If you want to set up a time to meet online I can give you a basic walk through and show you around. Just shoot me a note!

We just had our first major situation and the Na'vi came out the winners, of course. The new human General (previous one has been replaced thankfully) captured the clan leader (tranking her by the way) with the help of my character and another human, we managed to bust her out of the cell she was in and made our way to the forest.
Due to those circumstances, my character is now trusted again by the clan and their leader. I can now fly my own Ikran and it's crazy! I still have to go through the 'Spider ceremony' which will be a trip as we all know. If anyone is having issues and still wants to join in, we could use some avatar drivers and other humans. Military too. Just shoot me a note and we can coordinate time so I can help you out. Eywa be with you all!

Permission to ask something
Captain: Ryder, SecOp trooper assault infantryman Past U.S.M.C. First Recon served two tours one in Nigeria and the other in Venezuela. Joined for my country Colonel Quaritch was my commander in Nigeria served ten missions with him then his tour was up and he signed to become a RDA SecOp. All Vets, get an application to sign up for the RDA but you need to be in one piece or your no use. When I came back from my tour, my girlfriend was SecOp soldier she, served one tour as a Marine, then after that she went to be SecOp pilot(not trudy)we both went on we both were coming back home at the same time. I was going to propose to her. But she, was KIA on the final battle. I only had eleven years to live because I develop a sickness, from earth a pollution. it wasn't contagious, so I was able to finish my tour. I wanted to spend my last eleven years with her, but she, was KIA when I was going to propose to her. So it all changed I didn't want revenge, I wanted to continue helping earth get the resource help my country mainly the U.S. have there investment not go to waste, well we all kno I am not going in for the money.

Well that was more of a statement of intent rather than a question... we could use you soldier. Most definitely.
The timeline for our rp is about 20 after the movie, but your story still works. If you've got SL come join us! If you haven't done it before, just let me know when you can be on and I can help you out. When you log in, search in Groups for Official Pandoran Hub. Teleport there and look for Patrice Merchi or Al Abonwood, Bull Hui head of the military but isn't on as much. Or you can just search for us if we're online there contact us! Been busy elsewhere.. namely SL
Lots and lots of things have happened since I originally posted this thread. (Over a year is a very very long time!) Things have changed a lot, but there is still a core group of people that have a clan and their own sim in Second Life.
Our new group is called Pandora HomeTree and the clan name is the Txe'lan. We are a group based on the premise of working together and being a family. We have diverse members that all agree whether animal, human or native player we are all one. Combat is rare though conflict can happen when humans choose to interfere. If you do choose to come visit and know your way around SL just do a search for Pandora HomeTree in Groups. If you are new to Second Life, go through the training and orientation first and when you feel you have your bearings, look us up! Irayo!

Sorry to hear you had difficulty, SL is very graphics heavy. What name do you have there? I can ask around and see who greeted you. All of us are US or at least English speaking (our Eyktan is Canadian) so there shouldn't have been a language barrier.

Wow! Your character is a scientist? You are really great! Nowadays, more and more people are buying their favourite cosplay costumes in the on-line stores, such as Moviescostume.com, Fandomsky.com and other stores to play their most loved characters in the cosplay shows. That is really cool and impressive. Haha.
