Default Lon's "State of the Website- 1st Quarter" For Avatar-Forums

If anyone hasn't read it yet, read it here: State of the Website, first quarter, 2010

Some of the changes are good... but I found many of them VERY disagreeable. I immediately thought after reading the whole thing, "I am so damn glad a place like ToS exists."

Most of his points are valid, the only thing I see a problem with is reverting to the default vbullitin style, that makes my eyes hurt. >.<

I can see were Lon is coming from on a few issues, but overall a lot of the changes he wants to make lead to the problems he had in the first place But who knows, maybe these changes will go better than last time.

The only problem I see is the change to the default vB 4 style. While upgrades may be easier to implement, I do not think the backlash Lon will receive for the switch will be worth it. I mean, people on AF are still complaining about the switch from vB 3 to vB 4 a month after it happened.

I just assumed since this forum is a break-off/partner of AF, it'd be appropriate to post this, especially since it might affect the welfare of the site (it's a very important announcement).

Sort of like a son/daughter checking up on the parents.

This thread can be kept here for discussing the AF announcement - however, any comments of flaming or personal nature and the thread will be closed.

I have to say... If he's planning to merge AF with other forums he has, then he has not only seriously underestimated the resistance he will face (from both sides most likely...), but already forgotten what happened last time.
As for the removal of donator status, I don't care that much since my donation on AF was to nzk0 and not to him, but I'm sure many donators who are still active, particularly if they actually donated to him, will (rightfully) be very annoyed.

Woodsprite is right, discussing this here is fine, although this thread will be watched carefully for any unnecessary flaming, since AF is Lon's forum and it's for him to do as he likes with, whether that's good or bad.

Sorry my last post came off hostile...it was a late night. Anyways, I honestly have no idea how the proposed changes will effect AF. Some ideas are good, some bad. Usually I have a strong opinion on stuff like this, but I just don't know in this case. It's weird. I guess time will tell.

Meh...I'm quite annoyed about the donation system being removed -- I never lorded over other people because I donated, but it was nice. Meh. And I think he is going to be ripped to shreds on this VB4 default thing. Seriously. I feel AvF sinking.

I completely agree, As soon as the majority of Lon's idiotic ideas take place its going to burn AF to the ground.

Its pathetic, what a ridiculous set of idea's, Thank god for ToS.

I have stayed out of the whole fiasco. I am glad that TOS was founded because we are freer on this board and are kinder to each other. It is sad what is happening to the AF. I don't check it out much anymore at all. With these proposed changes, it sounds like I won't be going back either.

I would like to remind you all, be sure to keep any flaming out of this thread. Discussing the AF changes is fine, insulting any member of either ToS or AF is not.

Erghh sorry Eltu is this more acceptable?

It's difficult seeing such a profound community gradually decrease in quality, that place was an open door to us all. Eywa has graced us with this place of refuge now, and welcome neytiri., it's a shame nobody has as of yet.
