Wake up with the sound of the same terrible bip-bip at 6AM
Look your messy hair through the mirror, wash your sweaty face with the cold water. Take a big cup of coffee while feeling the cold floor under your feet and the radio yelling at you the news. Dress with one of the same three or four different outfits you keep in the closet. Get in the car, turn up the radio and put up with the morning traffic jam. 8 hours of endless work. Talk about work with the colleagues, drink some more coffee, stare at the PC for some more time. Take out with your shaking hands the keys to get in again in the same house. Sit, take a beer and stare from 6 to 9 at the TV. Order a pizza and keep staring at the football match. Yell twice: "What the f*ck this guy is doing?!" Shut the TV down and brush your teeth. Take a pill to sleep, and back to bed to have 7 hours of sleep. And then? The same. And then? The same again. And again, and again until you're 65 years old, wondering what's been of your life. Damn this status quo. Life can't be just this: eating, sleeping and working while staring at screens. Where's the risk? Where's the emotion of feeling alive? Why all this fake necessities, this need for more money, this vanity, this nothing? This void that remains always the same? Dammit.

the cool thing about the status quo...
the chains meant to be broken. Don't sulk around wanting to change things but don't do it... go out there and live your life! Get a job doing something you love, then after go hang out with your friends, go to parties or raves or clubs (whatever's your thing) have a BBQ with your friends, do something different go out and make an adventure. whenever my friends text me that they're bored, I say, "go have an adventure" then they text me back with an amazing idea they have and then we spend the next few hours talking about it and such. do something so that if you write a book about your life, you'll have so much stuff to write down you don't even know where to begin Edit: Get an iPod and an iHome, so when you wake up in the morning it'll be to a song you'll want and enjoy... and you don't have to listen to the radio... I personally hate the news... I can't stand it. if its super important i'll hear from it from a friend, other than that, the TV or radio news is out |

I try to avoid it as much as I can. I'm certainly not free, but I'm not stuck in the same thing.
Some days I go to university. Some days I get up relatively early and do something, some days I sleep until 2pm.Some nights I go out whole some nights I just spend on IRC and the forums or reading. It's important to not get stuck in the same thing every day, and to always make sure you do things for yourself. That's why I don't want a 'normal' job, to spend the rest of my life working for some piece of paper that goes again, leaving me exactly where I was...

Quote:
The problem with being a teenager is that you can do almost nothing that could free you from the routine. It's just, when you get used to it you don't care about what you do or you stop doing, but when you See what you do (sit down, listen to the teachers, write down what they say, break, go home, wash, supper, bed, and again,...) I just want to break free. I don't want to make it sweeter; I don't need painkillers. I want to get rid of it. Quote:
Anyway guys, thanks for the replies. I need to stop ranting over everything here; seriously, I'm beginning to be an unbearable person with the same topic over and over again.

Zenit, you have just described my life. Its the same routine, day after day. The alarm goes off at 6 am, my husband gets up. I try to sleep till 6:30. Then, into the shower, dress and go downstairs where my husband already is eating breakfast and watching ESPN's inside the NBA. I eat breakfast and then its time to go. Walk to the bus stop, say goodbye to my husband. Wait for bus. Get on bus. Go to first stop. Wait for the other bus. Get on that one. Then get to work. Come in and start the days work for 8 hours. Then, my brother picks me up. Go home. Turn on tv. Wonder what we are having for dinner (we never can decide) and then watch tv, a movie, or read a book. Go upstairs. My husband and I hang out on youtube and talk, etc. Then bed. Then the day starts all over again unless its Sunday. If its Sunday, I wake up at 5:30 am..shower, dress, go downstairs, put my make up on. Brother gets up, showers, etc. Husband gets up, showers, etc. I wait. We get into the car. Get to church. Hang around with buddies then we either go to the other church or we go home.
The only reason why I go to two masses is because my husband and I are in the choir (actually he's the choir director at both masses) and my brother is an altar server (at both masses). So, that is the routine. Yep, it sucks at times. Yep, it feels monotonous. Would we like to do something different? Of course. Can we afford to? No. That is where the problem lies. Money. All three of us work our tails off so that we have enough money to pay the bills and hope there is a little left over for other stuff. We go to movies sometimes. We buy dvd's/blu-rays or books or stuff that I need for the house. Once in a great while we go to a show. I miss going to operas and museums but those are special treats. Heck, we live very, very close to the ocean and we don't get a chance to go to the beach much. I'd like to but when you get older and start working you end up getting into routines. I know what I desperately need to do. I need to sit down and start writing some more of my book but I have lacked the energy for it. On my days off, I do household chores (laundry, vacuuming, etc). There is always something that needs done. My husband barely has time to record. He likes making his own albums or writing his own songs. However, we try to make time and that is all that you or anyone else can do. Make time to do the things that you want to do. Don't let the "routine" enslave you. We are desperately trying to not allow it to enslave us although I think we fail at times.

There is an alternative. How much of your "stuff" do you actually need? How much time is spent doing things that have no impact on your life? When you finally do have free time, are you spending it watching television or dusting all your crap? Do you actually like your job? How much of your day is spent actually creating something? Become a minimalist and stay within your means rather than exceeding them. Live on the essentials so you can focus on what's important to you, rather than spending your time working to pay off more bills. This isn't a pipe-dream, there are people doing this now! What's stopping you?
