Default Summer Warning: Beware the Barbecue

Unexpected (but very welcome) guests at our outdoor dinner:

As a result of our carelessness, the hedge is not in a good way.

I'll take some photos of the remains tomorrow, in the daylight.

(Feel free to post your own firey escapades/incidents, if you have any.)

No pix, but a word to the wise, never try to start a grill with gas(petrol for all you EU folk). It took a couple weeks for my eyebrows to return to their full splendor.

Didn't give the food a strange taste though, I waited till it all burned off so none of the gas smoke would taint the meat.

Haha, I know how that one goes. Had a petrol-related incident about a year ago, which started with my father liberally applying a can of petrol to a bonfire (despite mine and everyone else's skepticism) and ended with him setting fire to his girlfriend's trousers and having to quickly douse a trail of fluid-like flames trickling towards the brand new summer house. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I hear eyebrows take a fair while to grow back, though. I've been lucky in that aspect, thus far.

I was chunking in a fire with my boots and my pants were frayed on the bottom. Needless to say they caught fire. I had a fun time getting that out.

Amateurs...

You need to let a professional take care of these matters. You should how my friends and I do fires while out camping in the desert. One word of advice. When we all stand up and back away from the fire, you had better as well.

On a more serious note petrol (gasoline) can be very dangerous and produce serious and even fatal burns. I'd be a hypocrite if I said never do that, but I'll say be very very careful.

i burnt down a cabin once...
it was intended and placed in a fire pit(most of it fell over the side though), but flaming metal looks cool.

I've never had anything particularly bad fire-related, luckily.
