I suffer with the same sort of thing. I think most, if not all people here do. We live, but this is not our home. We don't belong in our current surroundings. But my friend, you are not lost. I can tell you that. Your spirit is in just the right place. Now its just a matter of getting your body there.

It's kind of like the Matrix. To most people, the Matrix was a physical trap, something that was inescapable, and even when given the option of leaving, most people would simply turn it down, choosing the comfort of the Matrix. Sound familiar? It's the same situation today with modern society. We are told that getting an education and getting a job is something we have to do, and the alternatives, such as being a vagabond or living in the wild, are living hells. Any one of the billions of people within the Matrix could have escaped, but they believed the lie of the Matrix to be the truth. And like in the Matrix, Neo saw the construct for what it really was, just a bunch of computer language, nothing more. We are like Neo, we See what modern society really is, just a bunch of ideas, nothing more. And like Neo, we can use our Seeing to fight for our freedom. To simply shut our eyes, and "wake up," as you say, would be the biggest mistake in our short lives we could ever make.

Society is only the product of the problem, because the broblem lies in the laws of reality. Harmony said it in a little simple way, but the truth is that there is no ideal way of life possible in this reality, no matter how much any of us want it to be so.
It's only because of our ease of daily lives, that we have been able to stop and think of our meaningless existence. Life in itself is a such a cruel joke, that I can't find words to describe how horrible it truly is. Why would anyone want to know that their whole existence is merely mindless repetition to the bitter end? I know one should always take pleasure from the little things in life, but it all feels so pointless when you know that none of it will actually matter one way or another. I know I'm not helping here at all, but I feel like lying if I'd say it any other way. |

I see you, Eltu! And I feel with you. The same!
Such feelings have been with me - sometimes consciously, mostly unconsciously for the past 20 years of my life. The dissatisfaction with our lives and a society of which I never was a part. Now I have "taken the red pill" to stick with the Matrix analogy by watching not only Avatar, but also some documentaries and I think I really woke up and just as it is with Neo, I see the world for what it is - a place that has suffered so much and is overlain by a cover of deceptiveness. I see the city as a block of concrete, glass and steel - every meter of the places I walk in my daily life are artificial. It happens that I feel panic while beeing in the city. I panicked in a train driving through miles and miles of interconnected cities with almost no natural places in between. I feel such deep sadness that gets even worse when I see what people do - the oil spill, the tar sands mining, the mountain top removal,... I can barely stand it. And of course the social menaces - people earning 100 times more than others just because they are lucky or rich in the first place, kids loosing touch to nature and to each other, social systems and networks distorted to fit the needs of economy rather than humans. An economic system that obviously is continously on the verge of a collapse and people who just do not care about each other. I found a couple of options to divert my attention from these things and to take myself out for some time. I do medieval reenactment, I go hiking in the mountains, I do archery and sometimes I just stop by the road and go into the forest. I started to connect to people who think like me, want to experience at least parts of ancient knowledge and ways of life. I met some of them at a "wilderness weekend" and I'll go to more of these workshops and weekends to learn more about the most basic things of life in nature and on the societies of people long gone. I will meet people and we can talk freely. But as it was said "you always have to wake up". And I mean that in the context as it was in Avatar. I feel like an Avatar driver who is trapped in the city/Hells Gate, escapes from that into a more welcoming situation (via the Avatar), but at the end of the day (or the week), one has to "wake up" to what is our "real life". So what happens is (and the analogy with Avatar does not stop ever), that this different world feels more real than the place we come back to. "Everything is backwards". We may get "lost in the woods" (in a positive sense as Jake experienced it) and start to despise the life and the people living in Hells gate ever more. Going out "dreamwalking" is sort of a temporary solution to a permanent problem. For some it may be enough to "reacharge batteries" occasionally, for me it is not. A permanent solution is harder to reach - there are two options basically - either stay in "Hells Gate" and try to help from there (get a job in environmental protection, participate in politics, ...), taking frequent dreamwalks by going camping and hiking and such - or get out of it and live a new life and try to be an inspiration for others. I personally have considered both options for much of my life and thought I could manage the first, but I feel like this is not working - I have a job in environmentalism but I still feel it does not help and meanwhile I have to stay inside the system, like Grace - gaining knowledge, warning of dangers, but few listen, so now I have swayed much more to the second way. I will (and this is more or less a promise to myself) try everything to make this work. Either with The Revolutionists project or with some other people or by myself. I don't know if this option is for any of you, but to me it is a goal and I personally see it - for me! - as the only way to deal with the feelings I have that are so similar to yours, @Eltu. Greetings, Aurora

Yes, Eltu, I am glad you are with the group also. And I feel the same - it is for me also what keeps me going. We already have so many good ideas on what to do and how we want to live and I really hope sooo much, that we will find a way to make this real!

Just wanted to say a few words to you all.
I have spent several days now, just thinking, being for myself. After reading and taken part of all the wonderful help I have gotten here, I feel like I am finally beginning to get a hold of my life, have clear goals and being able to live as good as possible at this moment. After so many realizations and new ways to look at Earth today... I can finally feel my life is truly meaningful. Thank you all for your WONDERFUL support - I love you all beyond what words can describe. Irayo, Eltu
