This movie ended up being my #2 movie of 2009, next to Avatar of course.
I thought this movie was extremely well done. From how they filmed it, they managed to give it an extremely "real" feel to it. Which left a small part of my mind wondering if this was actually going on in Africa when I left the theater. I also thought they did an exceptionally excellent job on the aliens from design to animation quality. Not to mention it left me with a similar feeling that Avatar (only not as potent). Where you end up feeling sorry for the aliens as you watch them being human test subject and become the product of human greed. Lastly, I was blown away by the acting performed by Shartlo Copley. Especially considering this was a debut role for him in hollywood releases. |

This was, without a doubt, an excellent movie. It is only a shame that it was shadowed by an even more epic movie, AVATAR.
As you say, it seemed so real. I can only describe it as gritty and realistic despite it being about alien refugees. It is an interesting idea, alien refugees. I always imagine aliens that who come here would be technologically superior (which the 'prawns' were, I can't remember what they were called) and wouldn't get stuck... I may watch it again just now

For me the movie was a mess with shakycam induced headache to go with it surely didn't help at all. I don't really remember much from the movie anymore, so that's pretty much all I can say.

I really liked District 9. I thought the story was unique and entertaining. I'm def looking forward to a sequel if there is one.

District 9 was definitely an entertaining movie. I loved the story and the characters. It was very well done. It is now my third most favorite film, behind Up and Avatar.

I absolutely love District 9.
Amazing movie, and really shows the, sadly, true nature of the human race.

Excellent film, really excellent... just like with Avatar, for once the aliens aren't the "bad guys". I love it

I thought it was a brilliant film, although it isn't my cup of tea (I haven't the stomach for all that goriness). I wouldn't rank it as one of my favorite films in terms of films I enjoy watching, but it's very well-done...

I liked it in terms that it delivers a powerful but very true realization of the nature of the human race. Sadly the first time I watched it had russian subtitles for the "prawns" language so I missed out on a lot.
If felt really disgusted when they did weapons tests on your man when his arm turned "different". |

i must say, District 9 is as good as Avatar in terms of the movie BUT it lacks the world and all the thigs that come with it that Avatar has. The District 9 story was great, really unpredictable, and the CG was amazing. No wonder WETA was chosen to do Avatar. And the weapons were insane! Electricity gun FTW

I watched it once and that was enough. I'm not saying that it was bad movie, I liked it the one time I saw it and I will probably watch it again but I'm just not ready for it again for awhile.

This movie is great. The acting was great. The story line was very unique. I loved how the first half(ish) was filmed like a documentary. The effects were great. It was so realistic. Everything about it was great. I agree with the OP. It gave me the similar feeling Avatar gave me, but not as strong. It made me hate humanity more than I already did(probably not a good thing, though
)I really don't know why I haven't watched it again.
