District 9.

Lol, I've actually read every comment before posting, and that's a rarity with me.


District 9... Watched it for the first time last night. Mixed feelings. All I could think after it ended was, "Sequel? Sequel? Is there gonna be a sequel??" Because the end just left it there... I dunno about you guys, but I don't particularly enjoy artsy endings, like with Pan's Labyrinth (which I didn't like at all). That's why I looked up the status for the director's plans, and he is probably going to make a sequel. In fact, I read an interview where he mentioned the ending was also made to have a sequel, rather than being just artsy.

The effects were not really the best. Sorry, I just didn't see the aliens as *real*; they looked and moved more like a bunch of bug-shaped transformers, to me. Even a robot shown was totally unrealistic-looking, mostly because the movement was way too fluid. I never once compared the movie with Avatar except with the visual effects, and boy oh boy... they were definately a let-down for me.

I found myself loving the film until the end, where I thought, "That's it?" No closure; absolutely no closure. Hopefully the sequel will arrive soon. I don't think I'll buy D9. Maybe when it's discounted somewhere at WalMart or something, but the ending just made me... pleh. I give it a 7/10, just because the beginning and middle were pretty good. I payed more attention to the story rather than the SFX.

I agree with all that you said really.

The ending was unsatisfactoy.

I thought D9 was OK. I watched it because it was mentioned so much in relationship to Avatar. It was a monie that was interesting to see once. But once was enough for me.

I absolutely, loved this movie. I have never, ever, been THAT, into a movie. Even Avatar, this was just... wow...

I really, really hope they continue it.

The ending too even, its just so, saddening, but beautiful. I loved it.

(And their Colonel makes Quaritch look like a schoolyard bully in comparison. /shakes head)
