Default Geocachers?

So any of my fellow aytsmuk. Anyone else on the forums into geocaching?

I've been caching for the last year or so and find it a great way to get outside and into nature. A lot of the caches I love to go after involve hunting through the woods looking for something that looks just ... slightly ... out of place.

Any other cachers out there?

I have no idea what this is, I'd love an explanation though

Think of geocaching as a worldwide, high-tech treasure hunt game. People hide "caches" of various sizes all over the world - over a million of them so far. And geocachers can go find them using GPS coordinates, clues, and good ol' fashioned detective work.

I've seen this on tv a lot, and it definately appeals to my interests. Only problem, not enough time/money to invest in a GPS unit . I'd love to do it one day though

I picked up a cheap GPS off eBay to get started, just to see if I'd like it. Think I paid $30 for it a few years ago. Later upgraded to a nicer one, though my friend who usually goes with me on hunts just uses his cellphone.

There are a number of caches in our area and it looks like an interesing thing to do that's for sure.

How would you use a mobile hone for GPS co-ordinates?

He uses his iPhone, which has a built-in GPS and compass. There are a couple of geocaching apps in the app store.

I've been meaning to, but don't have any kind of GPS. Maybe when I get a new phone (way overdue for an upgrade lol), I'll look for one with GPS.
