Default Have you ever been hypnotized?

I was just sat here and thought hey, I have never been hypnotized in my life. I was just wondering has anyone else, and if so what is it like? I would like to think that I am hypnotizable (is that even a word?) since I would like to do it.

I've had times when you day dream, but your mind is empty. I suppose it could be like self hypnosis in a way.

I really want to be hypnotized and have a peek into my sub-conscious

You can only be hypnotized if you really want to. It's easily fought, but if you submit to it you can to a degree.

I think Grif is right, if you believe in it, you probably can be more suggestible to such things, but there's no actual basis in it.

Nope, never tried hypnosis. But from what I've heard it only works on certain people.

People can lie under hypnosis. It's been done before. I personally think it's an interesting concept, but should only be performed if absolutely necessary (like a serious psychiatric evaluation, or investigation of an important event). Otherwise it's just opening the door to serious mental breakdown if done regularly. And considering I'm a Christian, I don't really go for occultic practices (which is ultimately what hypnosis originated as).

The closest I think was a light show at a rave no, haven't been hypnotized, and don't particularly want to

Hmm... As Stanley said, i've never been actively hypnotised, but rather, in a trace-like state.

What yall is saying is correct, to be hypnotized you must believe that it's possible and want to be hypnotized, it's nothing you need to fight to not succumb to, but rather the opposite.

And no, I've never been hypnotized

I can't be hypnotized lol. My boyfriend and I went to a carnival and thought it would be funny to try and get me hypnotized and I just kinda stared blankly at the guy waving a watch in front of my face and walked away XD I feel bad for ruining his show though lol Maybe I should have played along or something.

I went to a show when I was younger, and it was one of those power of suggestion-type dealies.

Anyway, he picked a bunch of people out of the audience (I made first pick, but he selected only a few out of the group so I didn't get to stay), and he made them do all sorts of funny things on stage.

It was definitely entertaining, and I'm not sure what to think of it since the people picked weren't being paid to do it or anything considering the one guy (about 22) came with his parents and they were chatting about it in the parking lot after the show.
