What would the Na'vi think of Human Socity Today?

Take Hell's Gate and blanket all of Earth with it. I'm pretty sure the Na'vi would be horrified. "They killed their Mother"--what kind of sick and twisted creatures would do such a thing?

We dont adapt to our surroundings, we adapt our surroundings to us. We're a fundamentally different species in both mentality and philosophy.

If they saw Earth nowadays, and they didn't like what they saw, well... as far as I'm concerned, **** em.

Honestly, I've read every comment so far... I don't think any true point is being shown.

The Na'vi wouldn't care about what our planet is like. They wouldn't care. They're content with everything they have and where they are, that the prospect of searching other societies for answers/discoveries would be irrelevant. Don't forget the Na'vi are ultimately a primitive race of humanoids.

Now, if they were to be shown our world just out of force (since they wouldn't care in the first place), I'm positive they still wouldn't care. Those who do wish to learn of us (probably about 1-2% of the entire Pandoran population at most) would look and not see hurt or pain, but rather marvel at what sort of accomplishments we've made. They wouldn't care about our problems because it's none of their concern, but rather they'd watch in awe at how we've prospered.

In my opinion, the Na'vi race is an eminently optimistic society where they have everything they need and want, and anything more is like a convivial treat... like an addition to their blissful existence. They wouldn't care about our problems, only about our positive achievements. Eat the meat, spit out the bones. It isn't like they could help us with anything bad we've done.

We're looking at the earth from our own perspective, and assuming the Na'vi would as well. But it's more like painting, where the artists are us, and the onlookers are the Na'vi. We, of course, wouldn't really care to notice anything good about the painting; only all the mistakes we made with it, and deeply regretting them. The onlookers (the Na'vi) would look and marvel at what a beautiful piece of work it is, and never notice or care to find the problems with the work. Is anyone getting this?

Yes. I agree. Although, I do get the sense that they would cringe a little at seeing the amazon being taken down (if they were to see it). It looks a lot like Pandora, and they would feel a little of the pain they would if it were any tree on Pandora. But yes, in the end, they probably wouldn't care too much. It's like when a genocide takes place in Africa. It's on the news and all anyone can say is "Oh, that sounds horrible", and then go back to eating their steak dinners.

Thing about the Amazon is it isn't as much an epidemic-type thing like the Pandora problem. On Pandora, the trees were just mercilessly cut down only to clear for an area to mine, not to actually use what was just destroyed. And plus, it was done on a much larger scale than what's being done to the Amazon. Same thing when some of the old western settlers killed bulls soley for the skins, or when the Mayans cleared their own forests for their stone cities, or just used the wood for fuel.
