I was outside mowing the grass earlier today, and I heard gunfire off in the distance. It turns out that someone attempted to rob the bank near my house. Seriously, I can see the back of the hotel that is next to it from the end of my street. Well, they called in SWAT and blocked off the main street, and there were at least five news helicopters flying circles around the shopping center and the neighborhood and a swarm of cops, SWAT, and FBI agents surrounding the place. Thankfully, no one was killed, and the gunmen didn't even take any money. (WTF?!)

Yeah, those are great. My friend has a pair of those and they sound just as good as some of the the high-end UE's. They're a bit lacking in bass compared to my Klipsch S4's imho (some people like smooth, some people like punchy), but the treble is amazing (I like laid back treble, not a tweeter in my face. ).

Wow.
It made BBC News - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-12101645

As for the headphones, well, impressive, although I still doubt there's much difference between those and my £20 ones other than showing off (well, maybe more bass, but I'm not a fan of overdone bass, most of my music is actually fairly light on bass)... also, I'd be scared of breaking those if I had them, while with my current ones I've had maybe 3 previous pairs over many years, accidentally broke 2 of them , but since they aren't hugely expensive it doesn't matter so much, especially when one lasts for 2 years or so.

Can't believe it made it all the way across the pond. Nothing newsworthy ever happens here in suburbia, let alone less than a quarter mile away.

I challenge you to buy a decent pair of headphones (no all are expensive, mine were $70, and you can get some decent sennheiser buds for $50) and use them for a month, then go back to what you're using.

I counter you with:

I know there is a quality difference, but it's diminishing returns. If a £20 pair sound hundreds of times better than the pair you get free with an mp3 player, than a £200 pair might maybe sound 2x as good as the £20 pair. In the end, unless you listen in a soundproof room, the difference gets drowned out.

Okay. You used xkcd. I surrender.

Srsly, it doesn't take a 5Mbps 192khz flac to tell decent buds from low end skullcandy. Still, anything's better than the ever-present white buds, especially when you have to sit on a plane next to someone listening to newage self-help audio books at 100% volume for four hours. I think apple designed those phones so that everyone around you can hear what you're listening to.
