One thing that bugs me is how they never spell out what is up with Ninet...except in the background stuff. It annoyed me they never mentioned it in the film(which bugs me to no end) but it also made me feel so smart that I was able to figure it all out from the little hints here and there.

Collector's edition tells us Ninat was gunned down by soldiers at Grace's school. I take that to mean she died. Also from my own speculation(and research) I have been led to believe she was the Neytiri's older sister. That explains a big issue of the whole Jake/Neytiri/Tsu'Tey love triangle. Most societies will marry off the oldest child first. So Ninat was the one intended for Tsu'tey, she died, so that "burden" passed to Neytiri. Which really helps explain why we don't see any sort of interaction between the two of them that suggests they are going to be bonded.

Anyway if I screwed something up....well thats my own personal canon and helps to fix one of the more annoying "plot holes" that always bothered me.

If she was gunned down at Grace's school - an event taking place before the events of the movie - why would Neytiri suggest her as a potential mate to Jake? Doesn't make any sense.
