When you have a precognitive dream (dreaming about something that happens in the future) you 'know' the people in it then but you don't know them now. So it has that sort of familiar feel to it but you don't know the people now.
I've had a dream like that come true, very freaky. As for having a past life dream, not so unusual really, mostly younger people and children have those kinds of dreams because they haven't built up as much 'trash' and 'cover' over the part of the brain that's open to that sort of line. Adults just call it a dream or 'fantasy' and tell the child it isn't real. Go ahead and write it down, put it somewhere obvious (not 'safe' because it's always the last place you think of looking) and don't worry about it. You can think about that scene when you go to bed if you want and see if you can go back to that. I studied this sort of thing for three years (I think more) for both a writing class and for the study itself. There's more to life than just this one, keep your options and your mind open. If you believe there's a Pandora planet out there, this is just as incredible and a bit more real than that planet.

I'm not sure I believe in reincarnation, but if I did, I think I'd been a soldier in a, or perhaps multiple, past life/lives. Ever since I was very little, I've been interested in the military, partly because it feels like it fits a part of me very deep down (like instinctive) that I discovered as a little kid when I was reading about WWI. I have this deep fondness for old military culture, especially that of the Civil War, WWI and up to WWII. I have a fondness for the ceremony, the uniforms, the weird musty smell, the way everything is designed to be absolutely utilitarian w/ zero creature comforts, the old barracks with their creaking floors and exposed, painted pipes, the weight and smell of guns, the bulkheads and general feel of the vehicles of later eras (battleships, submarines, and WWII bombers [I've flown in a B-17 and felt more comfortable in that 70-year old death trap than any modern airliner]). It just feels so familiar, like it's something that I've been exposed to and become accustomed to over a period of years, and I've never been in the military. I don't know, it's freaky, lol. All I know is that the military is something I've been drawn to, like it's what I'm meant to do, despite the fact that it's not really suitable for my personality type.
I don't know if that "ancestral memory" thing is a legit theory, but my grandfather was a bombadier, my other grandfather was a pilot (both in WWII), my dad wanted to be a pilot, my great uncle was a submariner (not ancestral but cool ), two of my great grandfathers were in the army in WWI, and one was a Marine.Edit: Another thing, when I was little my mom said I was interested in military things, like in kindergarten, I picked out a navy, double-breasted uniform-inspired "Easter" dress when my mom wanted something pink and ruffly (we made a compromise of a navy one with tiny peach flowers, lol). I don't know, what do you think?

I've only got one or two of these memories, and they're both when I (?) am very very young (talking a year or 1½, tops)... Nothing older than that really.
One's.. well, not "home". I and my mother(?) were at someone elses place, who also had a baby. It was a girl and her room was all in pink/purple. Her room was really filled with stuff, toys. I'm put in there with her, we like play for a minute or two (I think, this part is vague). Then I'm in a nearby couch (someone carried me there I suppose), where I'm put down and I fall asleep. Not a dream, my dreams are weirder than that. Not kidding
