Default Reform vs Revolution - What Does The World Need Today?

There's a lot that needs to change in the world, from issues on the environment, to human rights issues, to war, etc. Change must come, that is something that we cannot deny, but what is the best way to bring this change? Should we take the reformation method - working within the political and legal system to bring the change we want? Or should we take the revolutionary method - doing things like civil disobedience (and most likely, unfortunately a bit of violence) to bring the system down, and build a new one from the ground up?

I personally think true revolution is the answer, and here is why. Take the US for example, currently we are trying the reformation method for some of our issues, and if anyone has turned on the news lately, one can see how well it has worked (/sarcasm). The system is broken to the point to which it cannot be repaired from the inside. For years, legislation that would have brought change is continuously shot down by our bought-and-paid-for Congress. And anytime young blood is broght to the fight, promising to change Washington, what happens? They're probably getting kick-backs the same day they take their seat in Congress, and become just another corporatist, answering to big business, not the citizens, whom they should be answering too. To right now we have a situation with a minority group of poeople are getting rich over exploiting mother natue, sensless wars, and crooked insider trading. At the same time you have the majority of Americans, feeling cheated, who are watching their elected official's break the promises they were elected on. At the same time they have to directly experience the consequences of the corrupction-driven actions of the ruling class, such as environmental damage, unjust laws, over taxation, fearmongering, etc., and they are PISSED. And the situation can only get worse of left to continue.

With all this stacked agains't my country, and the countries of you all, I truly think a revolution is in order.

Oh, and I wrote this while under the influence of a sleeping pill (I need to get up early tomorrow), so if it sounds weird...yeah. If anything needs to be cleared up I can do it tomorrow night or on wednesday.

"Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off." - Tyler Durden
