Default Altering Motivations.

I've been wondering recently about the extent to which it's possible to change one's motivations/thought processes.

That's probably a bit vague, so I'll try to explain...

Prior to December 2008, I was a neutral / slightly unhappy person, unless something particularly good happened. But in that month, I decided to stop hoping for life to be good, and started hoping for it to be interesting instead. So far, life hasn't disappointed in this regard and, presumably as a result of this, I'm now happy 'by default', if you like.

Now, how far could I take this? What other areas could I apply this to? Is it perhaps a bad idea to try?

Excellent. You have just raised your IQ to 150.

Honestly, if more people did that and stopped moaning about their problems, the world would be a much better place. Good job. You've defied your brain's capacity to feel like ****.

I'm always happy. I may get angry or sad for a few minutes, 30 at best, but I get over things.
My philosophy:

You may only live once, so why waste your time moaning and complaining? Life is a road, driven by a smile.

My motivations... Well... Before Avatar, I THOUGHT I had my life worked out... I knew what I was going to do, what my plans were... but I never really had much actual motivation... I never really stopped and thought WHY I was doing what I was, if it was the only option or not. That's why everything changed when I did... I don't have the same ideas, I'm not driven by the same goals... I'm still not sure why, but I know that at least I've considered the question.

I've started thinking that way too. I'm in my point of life where I'm suposed to know what I want to do in life, but instead I'm going with the flow having as much fun as I can and so far life seems to be laying out nicely. And sadly I've found myself a lot happier when I'm not on the compter 24/7 instead going and doing things.
