Maybe my comment about animals was wrong, I meant specifically NONSENTIENT animals. Purring would be too far, and I just don't find the idea of it attractive.

Trolling, etc. aside, I don't like the purring thing either, because it makes them seem like nonsentient animals.

Think about it this way; would you rather have an attractive Na'vi woman tell you that she loves you/wants to mate with you or have her make some funny noise with her tongue? Also, I don't know if you've heard a human try to purr, but it sounds pathetic. I can't imagine the Na'vi sound much different trying to do it.

Just my 2 cents.

Ok well, we are talking as if they have the natural ability to purr, which would mean they can actually purr, not just trying to make the sound, which obviously sounds silly.

Zai-en-ken and HumanNoMore: we are only talking about the sound itself here - it doesn't HAVE to make any logical sense.

Imagine if Neytiri curled up beside you, looked straight into your eyes, hugged you and purred softly while smiling at you.

It's not about purring being an ability of non-sentient animals or not - that's looking too deep into it. It's just purring being purring, no more and no less. Of course that doesn't mean you can't dislike it - but saying "I wouldn't like that because it makes no sense" is missing the point.

Just my two cents.

Then imagine awaking next morning, sliding out of bed slowly as not to wake her, and then stepping on a puddle of puke on the carpet. That's another thing cats seem to enjoy.

Would you like it if Neytiri was covered in fur too?

You CAN go too far in my opinion. Purring is too far for me. It's too animalistic (yeah, I know... humans and Na'vi are both animals... but I mean too much in common with nonsentient species).
Truthfully, I' much prefer to just lie there quietly with her anyway, or have her whisper gently into my ear...
