Well, they really didn't need that huge nuke package they were bringing. Just tell the samson pilots to fly as fast as they possibly can to the tree of souls, shoot the hell out of it, be home for dinner. Worked with Hometree, and that was, like, ten times as big.

I agree with that one.
Besides, Max mightn't have informed the Na'vi of a single scorpion or sampson.
I mean, one modern-day Hellfire AT missile could down that thing. Who knows what they have in that time.

The result would be pleasing if they launched incendiaries. (watches fire)

They can't fly quickly in the presence of a strong magnetic field gradient.

Then fly normal speed. I"m sure at least one Samson would make it.

I agree, except...

...Pandora didn't have hand grenades. Quaritch's plan was fine. Even when the Na'vi came along, he beat them. Even when Eywa stepped in, he would've beat it too. Think about it: Jake is the only reason the mission failed, because he had a couple of grenades with him to sabotage the shuttle. If no grenades were used during the entire battle (which, to our knowledge, only two were ever used), the RDA would have won.

Simple as that. The plan was fine. Their only drawback was not thinking about how Jake himself was a trained marine, who knew about technical firepower.

Either somewhere in the hallways while they were escaping, or there are a few spare guns and grenades on every Samson.

I'm being repetitious here..
There's a lot that's missing out of this movie that answers questions like that.
I figured there were supplies in Trudy's Samson, it is a miltary ship after all. Same thing goes for the communicator neckbands..he had four, those could have come from the Samson as well or else the link module.
The Na'vi were losing, they hadn't lost yet. As long as the tree still stood, they had a chance of winning. Endured heavy losses yes, but they would have won.

I am not military minded, I just go with what sounds right.

I was thinking of this myself, better strategies. I noticed that the Samsons do quite well in getting low into the forest canopy and missile accuracy was decent enough. Quaritch could've sent all the Samsons to the Tree of Souls and then blew it away with a massive array of missiles. The Valkyrie could've been used as a decoy. Though the Ikran were picking the Samsons off left, right and center.

What about the Na'Vi on banshees?
They won't sit their ground and watch they burn the tree down

Well, a Dragon would be impervious to the Banshees and Toruk, but it might fall to Jake's hand grenades.

....Require better technology.....

AHA!
Launch Justin Bieber at it.
