If your IRC client asks you for your real name, you don't put it there. If you do, everyone can get your real name And that's also how they got yours.

Are you on a dynamic IP address? That might be one reason, if someone else got banned while using that IP.

With ones IP, you can DDoS, find out personal info, etc.
I don't really see a reason to keep it there, it's not like it'll help figure the issue out, better safe than sorry?

Of course they can find out your personal information. It's pretty hard now a days to keep it a secret because of social networking, yellow pages, and well being an adult. And DDoSing is an illegal crime activity. You can report it.

Yeah well, the people DDoS:ing usually use botnets or such; and are often behind seven proxies.

Bottom line being, they obviously know it's illegal, and they obviously know how to defend themselves against legal actions

We "avatarians" or whatever to call us aren't very... popular here n there around the interwebz

Basically... what HNM said.

Bah, That IP isn't even really mine, Im given it 1/3 times i connect to the internet, and as it's still banned from wyldryde i just unplug my dongle and reconnect it.
