On the 11th of August 2010, My PS3 died of a critical hardware failure and the Yellow Light of Death. Aged 3 years.
Noooooo. I am aware that it could be fixed, but I'd rather let it RIP and save £150. Anyone else's console ever died on you? |

I've been lugging around a N64 console since I was around 6 years old. A few months ago, I pulled it out of the box, hooked it up, and found out it didn't work anymore.
![]() At least my Gameboy Color still works. |

I want a PS3 because of the awesome exclusives that it gets. Heavy Rain, Uncharted, etc.
My Xbox hasn't RROD'd yet. ..Hopefully that doesn't jinx it. My graphics card went out of date once upon a time ago, if that counts.

My PS3 sounds like it's about to die. Whenever it heats up or cools down, it makes cracking sounds. Uh oh.

My launch day PS3's still working just fine, so 3.75 years here. When it dies I don't think I'll be getting it repaired if it's going to cost £150 to do so...

I got my PS3 a month after they were out. Still working fine. 60gb version.
Of course I rarely use it so that helps. My 360 got the RRoD and I got it fixed after MS did the 3 year warranty thingy. My Sega Saturn still works like new though :p

I got my 60gb ps3 back in 2007 and it still works, I think. Haven't even turned the thing on in almost a year though
But I had to throw out my Sega genesis a few years back because it stopped working, I still miss it.

My PS3 is fine. Although I hardly use it. And when I do it is mainly as a blu-ray player.
Mr 360 got the RROD, but MS repaired it. I say repaired, but in reality they sent a different one because it had a different serial number. |

I have way too many videogame consoles......
For most of the older ones, they can be rather easy to fix, especially if you have decent soldering skills. The newer consoles are too complex to fix that easily though, and the companies got smart and started finding ways to void warranties on consoles with the red/orange tape inside the casing. I've only ever had a used 360 die on me. It was promptly replaced.

My 360 died right after I bought Modern Warfare 2. I only played for 2 hours before it gave me that lovable RRoD. MS repaired it though, and it's working fine right now.
