Hello everyone.
![]() Last night I went and saw Avatar: SE in IMAX. This was my first IMAX movie ever, and therefore my first time seeing Avatar in IMAX. ![]() All I can say is wow. ![]() The experience I had was breathtaking. It was just incredible. IMAX is just amazing. So, we arrive at the theater at about 7:42 pm. Avatar starts at 7:45. We had to drive an hour to get there and were unfamiliar with the area a bit. So we went inside, got out tickets, and went to the door that lead to the IMAX theater. Literally, right as we got to our seats and sat down, the movie started. Talk about getting there in the nick of time. ![]() We had to sit pretty close to the screen, since there were a lot of people there. The screen was much bigger than a regular movie theater screen. I was pretty surprised at how big the screen was. Since I was sitting close to the screen, I was completely surrounded by this screen. ![]() As the movie progressed, I couldn’t help but be amazed at how much bigger everything was on the screen. The AMP suits were insane. The characters and everyone were also much larger. Especially the Avatars & the Na’vi. I really got a sense as to how tall/big they are. The night scenes were amazing, I got a great feel of the bioluminescence, the jungle environment and the flying scenes were breathtaking. When Neytiri flew her Ikran for the first time at Hometree, it was incredible, I felt like I was there. For the entire length of the movie, I honestly felt like I was right there in the movie, alongside everyone. That’s how real it was. This was so, so much more immersive than regular 3D in a normal theater. The 3D effect was much more pronounced or “there” than it was when I saw Avatar in regular 3D. Everything on screen had a much greater 3D effect/feel. I still believe that 3D doesn’t make Avatar an amazing movie, but IMAX 3D just made it a bit more “fun/interesting”. If there is one thing I don’t like about 3D, it’s that the colors aren’t as vibrant and rich, and that detail and definition is lost a bit. Also, the audio system was ear shattering! The surround sound effect was much more pronounced than I ever remember hearing at a normal theater. I heard a lot of things I had never heard before. All in all, it was a breathtaking experience, and was probably my first and only time that I will ever get to experience Avatar in IMAX, (it is no longer playing in IMAX here). I am glad that I was able to go, I didn’t want to miss it while it was in IMAX. Unfortunately, there was this couple in front of me that laughed at the most inappropriate times, and the guy left and came back about 6 times. The girl laughed during the mating scene when Neytiri and Jake made Tsaheylu with each other, the man laughed when Quaritch punched Jake, and they both laughed every time Jake and Neytiri said “I See You” to each other. Near the end when Neytiri placed the exo-pack on Jake, and he started breathing again, Jake said “I See You” and the guy started laughing. I thought to myself, “WTF is this guy doing here? He’s clearly not an Avatar fan, gtfo!.” They didn’t laugh continuously, only a slight chuckle, but they still shouldn’t have laughed at all. So that was my experience seeing Avatar: SE in IMAX. It was just amazing. I said I wouldn’t make this long, but I can never express myself fully by just writing something short. So if you read all of this, thank you.

Thats all I can say as well. Avatar SE was my first IMAX movie also. Watched it at 10 pm and didn't get home till 3 am.
But it was worth it. Would do it again if I could. Looking forward to your update.

Great to know you had the chance to see Avatar in IMAX!
I first saw Avatar in RealD 3D, and two viewings later, I made a 140 mile drive to see it in IMAX. It was a great experience, but I haven't considered making the drive again until just recently. Unfortunately for me, the nearest IMAX showing Avatar is a little over 170 miles away, so I may just have to settle with my local Dolby 3D cinema.

Read your update
![]() I'm glad you enjoyed it. Avatar is an experience but when in IMAX it just makes it even that much more perfect. Sorry to hear about the disrespectful couple. Some people out there just don't understand and don't care about other people. But, even though there were distractions it sounded like you had an amazing time I'm happy for you

Sounds like YOU had an awesome time.
...Minus the annoying skxawng(s) in front of you. ![]() My SE experience was similar in terms of annoying people in the theater. EVERYONE laughed uncontrollably at every possible slight funny moment. i.e. Jake: How will I know if he chooses me? Neytiri: ...He will try to kill you. Audience: HAHA ikjehjfikhfriuehfruieh.
