If it weren't for this thread I wouldn't have made a connection with a customer. I work part time at a fabric/craft store and a young girl came to the register with four jumbo bags of plastic pony beads (raver beads). I looked at the pierced lip and the beads and said, 'Raver bracelets?' She did a double take at me (since I'm possibly older than her mom) and smiled and said 'yeah my boyfriend wanted some bracelets and now everyone wants me to make them.'
I told her about the picture of the huge cuff that's posted and she was very impressed. 'whoa! That's crazy!'

So, this board is good for expanding my knowlege of 'subcultures' right now, I had no clue pony beads were now all the 'rave'. heehehe.

Spirit Week? Wow, that's a new one on me. Gives me the goose bumps! .

Over here in England, when I was at school, we had a sports day...oh and there was the time when there was a Comic Relief day which was a nation wide charity fund raising day where people came dressed up and stuff. One girl came to school wearing a large nappy (diaper?)....oh, sorry. Just zoned out there for a minute.

So, you've got your school having an Avatar theme. Excellent! Make sure the message of Avatar doesn't get lost on them. Hey, remember the forum has it's own film regarding the need to look after the planet (Our Only Home) Feel free to use it to show that people around the world care. It's on You Tube.

Update.

Today was changed to prep/nerd day....so Thursday will be movie day

side note: I didn't take my camera not knowing middle school has movie day, but 3 6th grade girls (ages 8-10 years old) were dressed as Na'vi with full body paint and everything, even hair braded with pink peices of string on the inside of the braid. So thursday I will take pictures of US and our awesomeness.
