Score. I used to be hit-or-miss on meditation until I made it a regular daily practice and put it in the morning ritual; now it is an invaluable start to the day.

I'm beginning meditating with a class hopefully soon. There's a center near where I live and they have morning sittings. I went today to visit and there were some Tibetan monks doing a live painting. It was really cool, it looks something like this:

The coolest part about it was the material they used: Sand. Yep, that's just neatly arranged grains of different colored sand on top of each other.

I honestly don't think happiness is the ultimate goal of mankind. It turns people self-centered in the end.

And that probably is the reason why we are like this, here on Earth -because for others being happy, some have to live badly or not live at all.

I think this is a great example of a question that is more powerful than its answer.

Tiberius, that was uncalled for... Don't try and turn this into another religious war.

Happiness is different for everyone, nobody can ever definitively specify it.

Exactly and if he thinks happiness is to devote himself to god then thats his opinion.

Relax my friend, there is not going to be any conflict here. The question was "How can we be happy here on Earth?", and I am simply bringing my personal experience, and my opinion.

The fact that everyone has a different idea of what happiness is, does not necessarily mean that there is no absolute truth with regard to the matter, it simply means that many people do not even know what happiness is, which is why they go looking for it in all the wrong places, and end up never finding it.

The inclusive term is "spirituality." (Not spiritualism!) That's a watering hole we can all gather around. "God" is one aspect of that, but some people do just fine spiritually without that concept.

I guess I got a little carried away......

I was actually logging on before bed to edit that, but it appears I was too late.

I've been pretty stressed out lately, and I guess I let it out here without thinking.

It won't happen anymore.
