I agree about not hunting any sentient beings, but nobody can prove their sentience.
Nobody has shot at anyone in this as far as I know, although Sea Shepherd have attacked ships with chemical weapons.

Not so strange that Michelle Rodriguez and others become somewhat frustrated and want to take direct action. Whalers have shot against Greenpeace rubber boats that have positioned themselves between whales and hunters. The hunters wanted to shoot the whales and they did risk to shoot even if the harpoon just missed the activist with around one meter and the harpoon line knocked down activists in the boats. Sorry, but you can't complain about being shot at when directly running into the line of fire, as much as I dislike the actual hunting, Sea Shepherd are trying to get someone killed so they can complain.

In the case I mentioned it was Greenpeace members who were shot on, but generally speaking a shooter has no right to just keep on firing while there are people that can risk being hurt by his fire. Just think if some deer hunter or similar would act that way on land, he would probably get arrested immediately and never be able to regain any licence for keeping guns or hunting again.

Yes you can, when they should not be shooting at all in the first place.

Whether or not they should be doesn't come into whose fault it is when someone consciously places themselves in the line of fire - if they choose to, they shouldn't complain about it. If they were making an effort to AVOID being in the line of fire, then they have every right to complain.

I'm going to ram the Yishin Maru with the USS Enterprise.
Fight fire with Anti-matter.Whales are mammals and that's enough to make me concerned over the Japanese operations.

This thread's not about that. It's about a group that's using terrorism to further their goals.

If the goals are just, then I don't see a problem with using terrorism. It's not as if this is hate warfare or religious extremism.
