Well, I watched Avatar for the second time ever today (I bought/watched the CE). First time I saw it was on a projector split over a 3 day period between two class periods of Environmental Science, so it was good to finally see it in one sitting, on a TV, and to see the new scenes. I must say, I've never felt better! I can probably attribute it to me actually doing something about the feelings I had after my first viewing: I'm getting my pilot's license, I've been studying more, I've been running/getting back in shape, etc... This time it was really just a reaffirmation of what I got out of it the first time, minus feeling weird, minus feeling bad about myself, and some of the things I've been putting off and my attitude. It's a great life out there, no matter what situation you're in, no matter the mistakes you've made etc... it's just great to be alive, and this movie affirms this. I like this tradition I've started: watching It's a Wonderful Life on Chirstmas Eve, and watching Avatar on New Year's, should be a good set up for a great year!! Happy New Year's everyone, and I hope you chase your dreams, and conquer your obstacles this year!

Awesome, I ended up watching the CE on New Year's Day too! I like that tradition you've got there, I will try and continue it myself for future years.

( In response to Post #1 in this thread )

I completely agree, I believe that if we all truly embraced various parts of the rave "PLUR" culture things would be a lot more peaceful. If you left out all the drugs and implemented the Peace Love Unity Respect aspects the world would be a perfect place. If we all could learn to accept one another and love each person for his and her difference instead of hate them for them then earth would become a Pandora type Society.

Sadly this his highly unlikely which is why it's up to use to change whatever we can while we are here. The thing I do mostly is try and help wherever I can and express kindness and understanding whenever possible

If you can express empathy and try and put yourself in someone else's shoes you'll see the world in an entire different perspective. Live, Love, Laugh, don't take life so seriously, make everything funny, take the serious with a grain of salt and try and be a better person ^_^

All in all it's what we do, today's generation can make or break this earth we just need to come together as one and make a change for the better <3

I hope that all made sense lol

It all makes sense to me.

I've always thought (even before watching Avatar and it's concept of seeing) that if everyone could see each other perfectly eye-to-eye, we'd have world peace. Almost certainly a naive statement but it's what I've felt nonetheless.

EDIT: Actually, the more I think about that statement the more I detect flaws in it but hopefully the general idea is understood.

Some people would have to change more than that, but the theory is sound

It made a lot of sense! I would normally stop and say "One can only hope...", but hope really isn't a strategy in this situation, I'm part of the problem, and since I can see it, I'm obliged to help fix it. Exactly as you said, I've mentioned the snowball effect and paying it forward on these forums multiple times, but the change in society comes from within you.

What you brought up is certainly a vital aspect of peace. Understanding each other's point of views. You can't pass judgement or disregard someone unless you've walked a mile in their shoes. We wouldn't have war or conflict if we could see through each other's eyes at any given moment. Unfortunately, we can't, thus with conflict brings resolution. Habit 5, seek first to understand, then to be understood. I think the best way we can accomplish what you've said is to LISTEN.

The movie affected me alot too, sorry I am new to the post here. I started a new job, which fored me to move from freinds and family. I knew no one where I was going, that was not the worse.....
1. drivers licence, credit card out of mail box of appartment.
2. Military shirts and cloths stolen out of lundry, under ware too... wow
3. 2 months later bug infestation.... roaches, bed, fleas. My neighbours brought them back from holidays and there were a few dirty people aswell. (sorry if offeneds)
4. New job training, dont pass all test you are gone and ther is many tests for 18 months.
5. Trades test with government, for ticket...PASSED!
6. BEST Freind stabbed and beaten almost to death, and grand father hosipatalized.
7. car vandlized in parking lot.
8. Neighbours cars and appartments broken into, worried mine would be next.
9. I had alot of debt due to lossing my job a year and a half.... had to borrow to pay bill and move.
10. Garage that I take my car for maintance were crokes, screwed up my car...lost power while on major highway, they swithed my batteries, broke engine components and tried to pass it on to me.
There is abit more, but you get the point!!!
Avatar came out at this time and gave me a much needed escape. I believe in fighting to the end, I never gave up! What I tell myself is all things have a price, that you have to pay. I won, really won, I moved to a nice town, great appartmen, job going great, here with fans and hopfully freinds. I will say this to everyone, things do get better and they do as I am a witness. I have now lost 80lbs and working on more, enjoying my job and excelling at it. I love the world of pandora, all of it and the movie avatar for the escape.
Thanks everyone.

P.S I saved alot of stuff and brought no hitch hikers as it were. I been in the new place since august 2010.

So we're almost a good two months into 2011, anyone living up to their new years resolutions, lol? Aside from personal ventures, like aviation, I'm trying to join some clubs/organizations that are volunteer oriented or some sort of "giving back", so to speak. Anyone have any suggestions?

On a side note (Tsyal Makto may like this, LOL), I'm seriously considering double majoring in Radio, Television, Film along with whatever I'm going to major in Business (I'm between Int'l Business, Investment Banking, and Marketing). What's really inspired me to do this is #1: I like movies and television (lol), and #2: The Development of Motion Picture class I'm in right now is so awesome I can't even describe. Anyone have any opinions on this? I feel like the direct route to reaching the masses is through the media, so why not study it?

I really wish I could be in the Middle East right now, alongside the peoples of one of these uprising countries, helping them fight the good fight. (Three Dog, hell yeah!! ) Maybe these protests in Wisconsin will become something bigger, who knows.

God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. Fight club, yes, that is sitting on our TV for a while - should be viewed soon.

Today, I was in for something more mellow and slow. Anyone seen "Dreamkeeper"? I can recommend it. It is about stories to be told and about times long lost. It made me think about where our stories are - and realize that we, most of us, are living without these stories - some rather cheesy fairy tales we get, but few of them are from even our grandfathers time - I guess, one could say that films and books and even TV are our stories now, but I miss something in them... still - I guess to study this and become a creator of stories is a good thing. I wish you success in that!

This is what I was thinking aside from the fact that I'm just interested in it. And thank you!
