For many years there have been some films that have come in 3D but often the effects was quite bad so they were not very successful. But with Avatar 3D seems to have become so mature that it is perhaps here to stay. Do we see the beginning of the real shift into the 3D world as we once saw shifts into films with sound or color film?
I saw on TV yesterday that for example Bilbo is planned to be filmed in 3D, and many other films too. |

Definitely. It helps that the technology is finally capable of actually making 3D look good
![]() We'll know it's mainstream when films stop saying 'IN 3D!11!!!1!1' on their advertising, like they no longer say 'IN COLOUR'

Definitely, electronics tells me all their new TV's this holiday season are going to be 3D capable. Older TV prices are dropping pretty rapidly too.
