Here's a thread for the rally that's about to happen in about 30 mins...just thought I'd put it up if anyone wants to spark any pre or post discussion about it.

Well the rally's over here are my thoughts:
As expected, it was funny and rightfully jestful towards mainstream media. The music they played was excellent, and surprisingly the new song from Kid Rock ft. Sheryl Crow and TI was good (I normally hate TI, but his verse was good). I must say however, I didn't realize Jon Stewart was such a good public speaker! His speech at the end was very true and inspiring. He has a point, no matter what we do we are making a difference. No matter how bad the mainstream media makes it seem, it really isn't that bad.

Sounds great! Big fan of the Daily Show, have been watching since mid-2004. I've probably seen most of the episodes of the Colbert Report as well.
Was everyone there reasonable or did you spot a few crazies (truthers, anarchists, tea partiers etc)? |

I had no doubt. And neither did woodsprite, (but he's afraid faux news might find out) http://www.politicususa.com/en/stewart-attendance Conservative estimates are about 150 thousand. Generous estimates put it at a quarter million. Right wing estimate, 3. (but I'd go with the 150 just because its better to lowball these things) Damn, the largest gathering this year. Quite a feat.

Liberal media? You're telling me that a mainstream media, entirely controlled by a handful of old, rich, white guys (who are also in bed with some of the largest corporations in the world) is going to be liberal? Rrriiiiggghhhhtttt...
Well, at least John Stewart and Steven Colbert aren't pushing people to violence. And what's that sound...? Can't you hear it? Kind of a high-pitched whining... I think it's the sound of 'ol Beck falling down a few notches.

Violence? When?
And those Nazi signs? Man, never seen so many of those... never seen any, actually. Never seen any hate speech against Obama at Beck's rally, either. I saw a prayer for Obama; never any hate speech against him, though... Many families, actually. Lots of young people, many veterans... Alveda King... A Boy Scout leading in the national anthem... the place being spotless after the rally was over... Yeah. So much hate. ![]() EDIT: Sorry, I just had to put all that in.

Byron Williams for one. And others.
Relatives Say Man Arrested For Threatening Democratic Senator Was Oh, and of course Beck would put a pretty face on for the event (and a thick layer of vapo-rub on for crying), it's a PR opportunity. Afterwards he was right back to his normal antics of chastising anything not hard-right and fabricating conspiracies about a communist "oligarhy" that apparentally anybody progressive is implicated in. Not saying this isn't a PR opportunity either, but at least Stewart and Colbert (AHH!! Bert again!!1! *grabs tinfoil*) are consistent.Oh, and pics. ![]() http://blogs.alternet.org/speakeasy/...estore-sanity/

No no no.... Beck had half a million minimum. No way it could be less. Glenn Beck had a million people there and don't let the lame-stream media tell you different.

I really liked the final comments. I hope this brings light into just how ridiculous mainstream news is. I mean, how many stories are we going to hear about killer bees? They're just bees! And yet somehow they get all the attention when 99.9% of the other bees are good bees. Granted, they have stingers, but their primary objective isn't to sting stuff; Its to make honey. I hope America learns a valuable lesson from all of this.

![]() But it is serious. America, or any nation shouldn't run on fear. It should run on reason and rationality, but also a search for unity and love. That may seem like a daunting task right now, but apparently there's a few thousand people up for it, as demonstrated by the rally. In fact, I think most people would agree with it. We just need to stop watching stupid news stories about killer bees.
