Default Seeking Avatarization Advice

I've seen some very nice photo editing skill from a lot of folks here so far and I was wondering if anyone with some experience had any advice for making Avatarizations.

Recently I took a stab at it and made this photoshop of myself:

My biggest question is how to construct the nose. I am not sure if I built it correctly here (I think the bottom tip may extend too far). Also is there anything that I could go back and improve upon or need to change?

The shape of the nose looks great - however, you should add some shadows (darken the areas) to add depth to it.

Improvements:

The stripes look too sharp and does not quite have the right shape - study Na'vi pictures for guidelines there.

The eyes - you could actually paste in Jake's eyes and blend them together nicely, if you have a good photo to use.

The tip of the nose, and the lips, need to have a more pink-purple color.

Other than that - awesome job!

Thanks, I'll work on those a bit more and come back with v2.0 in a bit.

The markings going up on one side and down on the other, as Eltu said... I haven't seen an Na'vi like that myself.

Other than that, nice, although you might want to get rid of the eyebrows if you're going for a 'Na'vi' look rather than 'avatar'.

And now a word from our artwork correspondent Mo'at:

*Takes out and licks*
"Hmmmm...a lot of potential I see in your artwork young one. Remove the yellow overlay on the dark part of the pupils and improve the stripes..."

"oh...and why are you wearing a sweatshirt?"
