Found this form one of the links ^ Japan Earthquake Could Hurt 'Avatar 2' and James Cameron's Epic Underwater Dive - The Moviefone Blog

Said that 'Avatar 2' may be delayed because of the recent earthquake activity in japan, insecure to shoot underwater scenes in the area when there's the risk for new coming activity

So no one is concerned that the Avatar 2 may be delayed?

It just means they'll have to change shooting location from Japan to...?

Anyway, the actual shooting for Avatar2-3 won't start for another year to a year and a half. Plenty of time to look for another location.

The intention was to film some underwater footage there, at the Mariana Trench. you can't film that elsewhere. Although really, it can always be filmed alter, and it just means doing the motion capture work beforehand instead. The actual motion capture can be done anywhere with a large studio with the proper equipment.
