"Duende, Literally meaning goblin or elf, is the spirit that inspires those extraordinary, perhaps fleeting moments in Flamenco (as in other arts like corrida or bull-fighting) when the performer a total communication with his audience. Only the truest artistry, free of any taint of any egoism or showmanship can create the possibility of it occuring. It is an experience of bare truth, when one is somehow transported to the very depth of things, to emotion most naked and poignant, so that one can only feel 'That is how it really is'. An audience of afficianados and common folk alike will recognise the experience of Duende when it comes but it is quicly passed by. The shiver of recognition is acknowledged, if at all, by perhaps a quiet, almost incrdulous 'olè' before the music sweeps beyond this breif moment when something touched the soul. It is a rare thing, hardly to be talked about."
This is why I play Flamenco. The description may sound fairly similar to something that we all know about, as Avatar fans. (Not entirely sure why posted this, but I just wanted to share as I thought it was quite an interesting and - from my experience at least - real concept. Wanted to get some thoughts on this as well...)

Interesting.
I certainly know that feeling, it's what Avatar gives me every time, one of MANY feelings. I guess people can get it from different things.
