Interesting... But how are they going to keep the genetic strains from reproducing with other trees? In 200 years you could have forests incapable of sustaining darkness.

That's one big problem they'll have to work around. After all thats how new plant species appear. We might have a Pandora just around the corner.

Maybe they could make them all sterile. The only way to create more copies would be through taking cuttings.
Or they could use trees that find it difficult to reproduce in the environment of the country they're intended for. Figs don't produce fertilized seeds when planted in the UK becuase there are no fig-wasps. Last edited by ISV Venture Star; 11-30-2010 at 02:04 AM. |

I think it would look fantastic. Unfortunately though, on earth, any type of glowing tree would remind me of nuclear mutations..

Except we have a myriad of creatures that depend on the dark of night to survive. Pandora is not a good place for them to live.

As long as they're alive, I don't care if they're glowing or not.

Yeah I wouldn't mind having the chance to see a glowing tree, or at least have a bio luminescent houseplant or something

I'd eat them in hopes I'd start to glow.
