I know WW3 will happen eventually. Tensions rise gradually all the time. Revealing private government information to the world though, seems to me like it's accelerating that process.

And I don't think anyone wants another world war.

Nothing that we learned through the leaks are things that people with the power to create world war don't already know. Might as well we learn the truth so we're not caught off guard when the SHTF. The only reason the media is having such a tizzy is because they are trying to protect their own interests.

Interesting...

I must say, if this is true, then this is even better than the leaks themselves. Pure genius.

God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. Brilliant

This is exactly why I'm following this so closely. Most of what's actually been leaked has been of relatively little consequence - it was things that the majority of the world suspected, just now they are in official documents. On the other hand, the reaction was really not something I was expecting.

I do not like this. So far, documents revealed have simply been embarrassing, but future revelations could start costing the US money and possibly lives if sensitive data gets out. (Funny, seems all their major "leaks" have to do with the US, don't tell me other governments don't have secrets...)

Despite what many think wikileaks has hardly scratched the surface as far as classified information goes.
There are some things that dont need to be covered up. But when it deals with national security people should just move on and not cry because they dont get to know every single thing thats going on. If your that worried about it. Join the CIA and get security clearance.

Problem, Government?

Government is government, and that will never change. The people put honourable people in power and those in power either get corrupted or are replaced by corrupted people. Then there comes the need for secrecy so that they can hide that the government is no longer working for the people's interests, but the government's.

IMHO, in a perfect world, the government's sites should be the ones under DDoS, not WikiLeaks. Anyone else here ever had the urge to buy rack space just to DDoS someone?

Well said

I agree that some things should remain secret, where absolutely necessary, but things like this stop governments getting complacent and doing/saying things behind people's backs, so to speak. Plus, as mentioned before, this is a HUGE reveal of just how authoritarian so many governments are, which should hopefully wake more people up

I agree that every governments secrets should be revealed. This planet belongs to all of us, not some secret clubs.

Hey, at least I'd like to know why I'm going to be blown up.

So.... you'd prefer knowing the truth, even if you get blown up?

I'll ready my bomb shelter.

Oh, and while other governments might have this information already, well... if you give it to the people, you'll get a taste of popular opinion. And there's one too many patriots in this day and age.

One thing in particular I thought of today was; While the British army fought the Nazis in Europe, USA was in no interest of being involved in the fight while they were busy fighting the Japanese. What we have heard in the history lessons, is that an American passenger ferry that was on it's way to Europe, got sunken by torpedoes from a submarine (sources claiming it was marked with the Nazi cross) Now, it has been talked about (what I've heard) that just that submarine was actually a british one! just marked with the Nazi cross to fool the americans, giving them a reason to join the war against the Nazis in Europe and helping the Britians! If anything of this every gets out (if it's true) ... I believe USA would be mighty pissed off

Anyone else heard about this? Or am I completely off the road...

USA would get pissed because they are expected to. But I don't believe they get too mad about it. It's been 70 years and wars are meaningless.
