What was the ships name again? Lusitania? Moritania? I can't remember.

Interesting conspiracy though this one, I doubt it though, the German wolf packs were cruel and unrepenting.

Never heard of that, but better for the British to have provoked the US into fighting Nazi Germany than the other way around, I say.

Hmm, those names ring a bell somewhere :p *wonders* So you say it is as high chance it was the Germans as the British? I doubt that really. Why would the Nazis intentionally "want" (supposedly they saw the consequenses of their action :/) to bring the big giant US into the fight? If the Germans made one 10 tanks, US got 50! If the Germans sent in 1000 men, US sent 10.000! And, the Germans were on a verge of oil-loss the whole war, basically running out of production material AND they had the Soviet Union pressing against them from the East. Bringing in the US into those unstable times would seem suicidal.

Yes, I say so too :p It is really what saved the EU back then, the British was having a hard time with the Nazis. Still, I ponder on how everyone would react. I believe I heard about this as soon as in 6th grade's History lessons. It would surely be one of Britians darkest cover ups and if revealed... well, in the early 21th century the world was a different place than it is now. Perhaps they thought the consequenses would be a lot larger. And who has the money now days to go into a new war just because of that... or willing to spend it?

I have been following this a bit and even though I am completely against censorship I still don't believe that every secret needs to be out in the open. This can hurt diplomacy and other government operations. I honestly don't care how much dirt they can find on corruption in the government or for that matter the banks but I think there needs to be prudence in this type of situation. I am also skeptical about the information. Just how reliable is he? One must have a critical mind about any information that they receive regardless of the source, that of course includes the internet as well as more traditional media sources.

What can make such leaks dangerous is how they are used. If these leaks are used to harm other people then this would be an abuse. Granted, as one of the other posters have said, if someone wanted to kill some of the people mentioned in the leaks then nothing could possibly stop them from getting the information even if the names weren't posted on the sites.

If this exposes how bad the governments and banks, etc are running then that can be a good thing. It is a fuzzy situation and I don't think there is a clear answer that we can ascertain yet.

I still think claims of how dangerous this is are overblown media spin. Like I said before, the people that make war, the people that rule the world...all this information is nothing new to them. The most damning information, the most technical information, the most dangerous information, is no secret to any of the government's of the world anymore. Countries have been using spies to steal this stuff from each other for decades. Now it's our turn. This is simply a chance for the masses to see how much they've been played for fools for so long. The reason the ruling class is getting it's panties in a bunch over this is because this threatens their own power over us.

"The emperor has no clothes..."

In my opinion the upcoming corporate leaks - and evidence of the military-industrial complex in the current leaks - are the most important of them all, because they're exposing the source of the government corruption. All the other leaks are simply showing examples of that corruption, these leaks will be going right to the belly of the beast. Hopefully he's got something on big oil, too, and big media, and big pharma, and big ag. The list goes on and on...

Unfortunately those are also the leaks that will get him killed...

No, it's not. Wikileaks.org has been dropped completely.

Try this, or some of the IP or DNS mirrors listed here.

Their original registrar did, supposedly because of the DDoS but I bet there's more to it than that.

Anyway, about the actual leaks, these messages were certainly no secret to all the different intelligence agencies, and found their way to most western governments long before they were available to the general public. Of course, a government knowing what others are saying about it is very different to the whole world saying

That's a good thing. The government getting a taste of "popular opinion" is the what keeps the elite aristocracy from running rampant. It's why France works.

In fact, I think Greece is getting a taste of "popular opinion" right now.

Hmmm. There was a Wikileaks thread just posted on AF, and I responded. Suddenly the whole forum 403'd.

I was having a conversation with my mom (which is akin to scratching nails on a chalkboard) and the subject of wikileaks comes up. One good thing about my parents is that they're a good gauge as to what the general sheeple public is thinking.

Quote:
ME: Speaking of the news, did you hear what happened to wikileaks? Free speech isn't free anymore.
MOM: I saw that on the news. (Referring to Fox) They were endangering American lives! They had no right to free speech!
You can imagine the look on my face. I just walked off and contemplated the best way to get as far away from here as possible.
