Ok, slightly confused now... There are two meet-ups planned: one for 4th June and one for 9th July. All Avatar fans are welcome to both regardless of what forum(s) they are on. The 4th June event is being organised by mostly the ToS folk and the 9th July event is mainly being organised by the LearnNa'vi folk.

As far as I know both planning groups have organised group bookings at the same Travelodge on each of their respective meet up dates.

Sooo is she going to the 9th July meet up and you to the 4th June one..or both? Hope you can see my confooosion. I'm very easily confused you know, hehehe

OMG! I can't believe all of the activity ... how awesome is this! Gulp, just the thought of our costumed Na'vi is enough for me to say "Hurry up Seattle!"

Well, for me a month to go passed yesterday! I'll be going to New York first and meeting up with some Avatar buddies there first before I come over with one of them to join you all - YAY!!!

It is goingto be sooo hard trying to concentrate at work these next few weeks...

Does anyone have a time machine to speed things up and then really slow things down for my trip over?

Just a reminder folks that if you are thinking of coming to Seattle for this once in a lifetime meet-up to enjoy the opening weekend of the Avatar Exhibibiton then the 2nd May is the last day that the hotel will keep rooms reserved for our group.

After that any roomed not booked will be released. You may be able to book after that day, but the rooms may get snapped up pretty quickly by other members of the public. All you have to do is mention the Avatar Fan Community when booking you room at the Travelodge. Details about the hotel and event are given in this posting.

Hope to see you there,

Alan

Hi MBA ~ you mentioned that a girl you met was going to be coming to Seattle for our meetup ... will she be helping you with the airbrushing on your back? If not, I will help. Please don't think this is creepy for me to volunteer because, if you need help, then someone needs to help you. That's what clan brothers and sisters (and crazy old ladies like me) are for.
PS I already have a room that I am sharing.

Some interesting stuff on there about spare batteries and things.
I fly with camera gear all the time (being a reporter and all...), not an issue. just remember that you have to hand carry ALL lithium batteries, you can't check them. I also never check the camera itself.
Pro tip: make sure you have one camera battery charged in case they want you to turn it on at the check point. same goes for any other electronics.

...I wonder if they'll have a problem with my Tsko? (haven't decided yet if I'll bring it, is there an archery range in seattle we could visit as a group? Seriously.) :-)

Aketuan: you can flag me as "hotel booked".

Kenmore Shooting Range

:30-:45 from downtown depending on traffic. Great place. I used to go trapshooting there all the time as a kid. They have a range for everything!

Thanks for the tips there Mikko. I've manage to get myself a small carry on rucksack that I can put my camera gear in and I intend putting all the electrical stuff in there so it's easy to check and stuff. I'm also going to take a copy of my receipts for the stills and video camera because I bet when I arrive back in the UK, customs will want proof I didn't buy them in the US. - hehehe.

Hey that's a good tip about being able to turn the cameras on *makes note of that*. Irayo!

Ooo, remember folks. For those who are wanting to join us and haven't booked at the Travelodge, after the 2nd May the reserved rooms that have not been booked will be released to the general public.

You may still be able to book after that date, but the rooms may get taken quite quickly.

That place looks neat. It doesn't look like they rent gear though (and I think they'd have a problem with my bow).

If there's interest; I could see if I can find an archery range (that supplies gear) for a group outing?

Just thinking out loud here; anyone into rock climbing? As another possible group activity idea. Iknimaya or bust!

hmm, I'm not much into Archery, but it would be neat to watch! My sport is table tennis, and I'll probably stop by a local club in Seattle if anyone wants to play a few games or watch. Oh and I don't rock climb necessarily...I hike all of the time and climb 14000 ft peaks, but it more scrambling than anything else. I think a group might climb Mount Si on Tuesday (we could change it if you are interested and can't make that day)

Sounds totally fun but my time in Seattle is going to be only a couple of days. One day for the Exhibition and then other still up in the air but a few of us are talking about going to the Aquarium. Nice suggestion though Mikko, just wish I was staying a little bit longer to enjoy all the other fun things to see and do while there

Yeah, I don't recall any equipment rental there. It's been a few years, though. There are a number of shooting ranges around, but most are for firearms only. For archery, the only other one I know of is The Nock Point, although I've never been to it myself. Their web site lists equipment rental, however. And they're closer to downtown than Kenmore.

Alas, my archery skills are the definition of "sucks." If I was to go shooting, I'm afraid it would have to be with my RDA equipment.

EDIT: The Nock Point isn't open on Sunday or Monday, which would be most inconvenient, methinks.
