Naomi Klein: Addicted to risk | Video on TED.com
I really liked that talk, also because it has a womans perspective It really resonated with a lot of how I see things. Her conclusion of the talk was that the dominant culture is mad and insane and unsustainable. I also liked that she did not too much push into claiming that technology is the solution, she actually bashes technology as a salvationist solution. Her main argument was as I understood it that the culture is mad, that it operates under a narrative that is inherently destructive and that a different story (narrative, cultural guideline) has to emerge. The video is 20 minutes and you can see it in flash or download it in higher quality.

Only when we loose ourselves in the stories they have the power to control us. Our culture got lost in the wrong story, a story of death and defeat, of opression and control, of separation and competition. We need a new story!" |
