Peaceful protests in Egypt have turned bloody.

Bloody and bruised: the journalist caught in Egypt unrest | World news | The Guardian

Latest, and possibly last message out of Egypt by freedom forces.

Also, protests have broken out in Yemen. However, they have remained peaceful showings of force rather than riots. Assuming the government does not escalate things, they will remain peaceful.

About the first article:

So... the police were pretending to be protesters so they could make the real protesters look bad? I'm still not exactly... I still don't understand exactly what the situation was. Were the officers causing the unrest, or the protesters?

The protests have been going on peacefully for days. However, the Egyptian government has been blacking out internet access and ramping up anti-protest actions.

Basically, a UK reporter got caught up in a sweep, was beaten, and loaded aboard a truck with hundreds of other civilians to be taken who knows where.

One of the protesters was the son of an influential figure in the government apparently.

The police can ba real *******s but they hit only reports of of several channels (Like Al-Qaida oh sorry wrong name : Al Jazeera)

All the politicians who support the demonstraitions are just "Riding the new shiny horse" (Exactly like USA and the Europe)
I ask you that :
Why does Egypt in so bad situation?
1. Reproduction rate (Becouse 10 kids per family do things alot worse)
2. The Goverment(YES I'm not going to lie here)
3. Dryness(Becouse 90% of Egypt are useless desert)
4. Some of the rich people (Who use there money to get more money)
5. And the most important : Very few oil(Why do you think that's the people in the United Arab Emirates happy? They swim in oil)

BTW Isard
What do you think of the welcoming of the "President" of China in the USA last week?
Obama has a split personality.

Ill be sure to keep them in my thoughts. Somewhere between "my ass hurts in this chair" and "I gotta take a dump". I have no sympathy for them. They wanna revolt? They knew what they were getting into. I'm all for a good riot every once in a while, but that doesn't mean I'm unaware of any and all risks involved, or that I'm gonna lose any sleep over a rioter who gets taken by the authorities.

^^^^^This.

Peaceful show of force, and reasonable demands considering their economic situation. The Arab world is changing rapidly, without intervention, and with peaceful movements. (So far, Egypt's government is the only one to react to protesting with "**** them up" force.)

I always ask myself on what I can do about this. I'm just a single person who likes to wag his finger like an old coot.

From what I've heard, the Egyptian people have caught wind of the uprising of the people of Tunisia against their corrupt government. Which is getting some results as far as I know with President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali fleeing with his family. Tunisia | Riots | Unrest

All the Egyptian people are doing is to gain some stability in their lives, through protest they can see a way to achieve this in a way. There is also similar action taking place in Lebanon against the new Hezbollah backed government. I think that everyone has a right to protest, It is a way to make your cause heard.

Egypt has left the internet!

In other news, Wikileaks is releasing Egypt related cables.

Yeah, this does not bode well for the people of Egypt. Whatever their government is planning to do it clearly doesn't want the world to see.

They haven't stolen their video cameras yet... it'll leak eventually. The fact that their internet has been cut will arouse immense suspicion. I bet spies are already on the case.

Definitely. Here comes another revolution...

As for the loss of the internet from Egypt, I can't wait to see what they does to their economy. This government need to face facts: Not only are they going down, but this looks like a scorched earth policy to me. Even more reason for them to go. As was mentioned above, information always finds its way out.

Revolutionaries always find a way, even if the government tries to put the boots down, the people will find a way to fight it. Somehow...somehow...the fight will go on.

I don't really think the Egyptian government knows how deep this goes, or the entire Arab world for that matter. This has been a powderkeg of anger that has been growing for decades, if not longer, and every year, the right-wing religious, economic, and social repression that grips that society causes that powderkeg to fill a little more. It was inevitable that eventually something would set it off (quite ironically the self-immolation of Mohammed Bouazizi).

If the Egyptian (and soon Yemenese) government wants this to involve as little bloodshed as possible, they should just step aside, but unfortunately it doesn't look like it will go down like that.
