Kaltxi folks,

Just a update for anyone thinking of joining us at the Avatar Exhibition on 4th June.

I've checked with the Travelodge to see how we were doing and they said 7 people have booked for the weekend over the 4th June. So if we are sharing rooms that means 4 rooms out of the ten reserved have been booked.

Please note that the reserved rooms will be held until 2nd May after which they will be released for the general public and we may end up foregoing our 15% discount.

You may still be able to book rooms after this date, but it will be on availability. So if you are thinking of going you have a week to book to guarantee a room.

Details on how to book at the Travelodge, which is only a five minute walk from the Science Fiction Museum, where the exhibition is being held can be found in this newsletter.

Do think about joining us at this meet up for the Avatar Exhibition. It really is an excellent opportunity to meet your forum friends face to face for the first time. Besides you never know who might be there on opening day of the exhibition

Oel ngati kameie...in Seattle,

Alan

Kaltxi folks,

Me again! Below is just a summary of the information generated so far pulled together as a reference for folks.

For anyone coming to the 4th June Meet-Up remember you need to book a room by 2nd May. After that any group reserved rooms not taken will be released. You may still book a room after that date, but they may get snapped up quickly by the general public. So strike whilst the iron is hot! Details of how to book can be found in issue 1 of the Ikran Newlstter hyperlinked below

Anyway enough of me waffling on, here it is:

The following covers getting to Seattle, things to know about the place and a number of suggested itineraries for the days before and after the exhibition visit, plus possible places to eat together. Hope they of are use.

Transport Information:
Seattle seems a big place! Consequently, we are going to need transport of one form or another, whether this is from the airport or to get around Seattle. To help with this an information sheet have been drawn up with hopefully all the necessary information on how to get around Seattle. To be honest, getting around should be pretty easy as its public transport system appears to be world class! The information sheet gives a summary of the main forms of transport as well as arriving in Seattle. There are also links to two bus route maps and the Metro Transit system website. Follow the link below to download the PDF:

http://www.mediafire.com/?893o1n1iih33d5q

Things to know about Seattle:
The majority of us will be new to Seattle and the phrase "When in Rome do as the Romans do" springs to mind. So to help with this a quick fact sheet has been produced with hopefully useful hints and tips to help us blend in. Follow the link below to download your PDF guide:

http://www.mediafire.com/?tbkgi12h9ydro5c

Restaurants:
Of course a Na'vi can't fight on an empty stomach and so the following information sheet provides information on a number of restaurants that might be of interest. Of course there are many more in Seattle, but these are a few that have been highlighted by visitor guides as suitable places and are also in close proximity to the Travelodge hotel.

http://www.mediafire.com/?l31ehje3ko94nqr

Suggested Itineraries:
With the information gleaned from the survey it was decided to draw up some suggested itineraries for the Seattle meet-up. At the end of the day there is no point just turning up there and not have an idea of how to spend our time together. So a total of five itineraries have been pulled together. Please note these are only suggestions and everyone is perfectly at liberty to do whatever they wish. They are only there to give some ideas.

These have been pulled together based on the survey results and also to take in the venues covered by the Seattle CityPass (Seattle CityPASS) and more! Below is a list of the five PDF itineraries to dowonload:

1. Pike Place, Aquarium and Shore Line
http://www.mediafire.com/?293izigr3j39urh
2. Pioneer Square and International District
http://www.mediafire.com/?ko6lcgd5339hete
3. Pacific Science Centre, Kerry Point and Queen Anne Avenue
http://www.mediafire.com/?nknlhdmsly2kfy7
4. Woodland Park Zoo Adventure
http://www.mediafire.com/?33or8r53b4vj6zz
5. Washington Park Arboretum and Broadway
http://www.mediafire.com/?f2i6cnibliy88xg

Smart Phone App:
For those with smart phones a useful app is 'citysearch', which knows where you are annd enables you to search the local area for various facilities, like banks, restaurants, shops, cafes, attractions etc. And the best thing it is free!

The Ikran Newsletter:
If you are not already joining us for the clan meet up in Seattle and would like to, you will be most welcome. People are coming from all the different Avatar clans for the opening day of the Avatar Exhibition. You can find details on how to book your room in the first 'Ikran Newsletter'.

Links to the other newsletters are here:
Issue 1
Issue 2
Issue 3
Issue 4
Issue 5
Issue 6

If you haven't already, you can subscribe to the newsletter by sending your email address to IkranNews@gmail.com.

Do consider joining us, on either of the meet up dates, in this once in a life time opportunity to meet up with your fellow Avatar friends. You never know who might be there... See you there ma aysmuke sė aysmukan.

Eywa ngahu,

Alan

The Story So Far!:

Avatar Fans from all the various Avatar fan forums will be arriving from Thursday 2nd June onwards ready for the world premier opening of the Avatar Exhibition at the Science Fiction Museum on Saturday 4th June.

A hotel has been booked to allow fans to stay under the same roof and meet each other - at last! The hotel is only a five minute walk away from the museum and details of how to book are contained within the Ikran Newsletter. You can subscribe to this newsletter by sending an email to IkranNews@gmail.com.

If you are unable to join us on the 4th June, well that would be a real shame...but all is not lost as there is another meet up being planned for the 9th July! This is being lead by our good aysmuke sė aysmukan on LearnNa'vi. They are staying in the same hotel with the same arrangements too. You can find out more about their meet up here: Seattle Meetup

So what are you waiting for. This is one of those once in a life time experiences. You never know who might be there for the opening...

Can't go, I'm stuck here in Texas. Although I could probably ninja out of my house and catch a plane (airport within walking distance) I have no friends to cover for me, or money.

hmmm ok flight if i came would be around $570 CAD . now to figure the rest of the costs ..

edit: Hostel 4nights $140USD .. Ticket for museum $15 .. Meals $120 .. Transpt *$80 .. = apprx $1000

.. goes to check financial status .. ie credit card ..

Also .. Alan . the links in the last post .. newsletter at least . aren't working for me ...

UMMM .. Staying at a Backpackers Hostel .. would be MUCH Cheaper .. they start at only around $33 USD ..

and can do group bookings ..

also comes with breakfast and such

And personally .. hostels . are much more conducive to visiting!

and they have beds available .

http://www.hostels.com/hosteldetails...elNumber.24089

for example and isn't that far from the Museum (checked on map)

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I've now fixed them so they should work now, although I'm having a bit of a problem with the Transport info sheet, which I can even access at the moment! I'll try and get that one sorted..

DOH! Why didn't you let us know earlier when we were looking into places to stay! We've had a group booking organised at the Travelodge for months now. I feel bad now . After the Travelodge have been so accommodating in making peoples stay flexible for their arrival and departure dates even thought it is a group booking, I can't back out now. It wouldn't be right or fair on them.

Oh well, that's the way it goes. I guess you didn't find out about our meet up until recently. I know you mean well. Anyway looking forward to seeing you matey. Avatar exhibition here we come!

I hadn't really even considered or looked at the whole subject, until this morning .. i tend to be like that just suddenly spontaneous! But i understand where you are coming from and it was great arrangements .. but for me to help keep affordable, its better that i go with the cheaper accommodations!
