It took a very long time (nearly one year), before I could convinced my mum to watch Avatar. She bristled herself always and had the excuse of no time and no desire, perennially.
But someday, I accomblished it and she watched the movie with me. The result was, that my mum asked, why I convinced her only now She was really fascinated.

Certainly, she doesn't loves Avatar how I love it. For her, it's such a movie, but that's okay. I'm happy, when she likes the movie.

In my familiy and circle of friends no one is so "crazy" and Avatar-enthusiastic like me. Also, I think this would be very difficult For me, it's okay

Don't feel bad man, my mom is like that too. My dad and I isolate ourselves from the world when e watch movies, but my mom never does. That or she falls asleep during the film, so I just gave up trying to get her to watch movies.

I think I've gotten everyone on my dad's side of the family to watch the movie now. I actually had to lend out my Earth Day DVD to an uncle and I still haven't gotten it back. My immediate family doesn't care for it much, but I never let them forget that I like the movie, and in the meantime, the Avatar-related items keep piling up in my room.

My mother came with me, twice, to see the SE at the 3D theater. She really liked it but not enough to.....become a member of this forum lol.

I'm not really sure how my family feel about it tbh... I've made them watch it so many times, and although they moan about it, they do actually sit through it time and time again. So i'm hoping that somewhere deep down they love it

Hey, don't take it too hard. I must admit, my love for the movie isn't exactly where it was a year ago *tugs awkwardly at the Avatar shirt I'm wearing*. So, I can understand not being completely enthralled by it. After all, more important than loving the movie is carrying the ideology it represents.

Hehe - well, I was always surprised at later viewings how the average age of the people in the theatre was even older than my age and I am alread in the mid 30ies. Probably that was because it was a "original language cinema", but still...
My mom will never see it though. She never watches any moving pictures besides the films she made herself decades ago. She does not have a TV and certainly will not go into a cinema for any movie. I think she would regard it as a waste of time to do that and rather take walks with the dog, care for her frogs and toads and educate kids about ponds and amphibians

Ugh but that was a bad cinema then. The first time I saw it in the original language version was in a former IMAX cinema and the 3D was somehow off a bit, so it did not work properly and then the movie crashed after 1.5 hours and there was no sound for 10 minutes until they realized and rewinded. That really sucked. From that sort of badly adjusted 3D I also got headaches.

Definitely - it isn't limited to any one. Most people are younger, as it is a scifi film, and a completely groundbreaking one at that, but it's well written so that most people can get something from it
